The spirit of Christmas is alive and well on Bonnie Brae Road in Darien Center, at least as far as the decorations go.
But apparently those very same decorations have caused a commotion outside, under the bright, new pretty winter moon, among some neighbors there. They are "separated at this time," says the dispatcher.
Sheriff's deputies are en route to handle the dispute.

Minor point: a "new moon" is not very bright; it's a mere sliver. Today's moon phase is "Waxing Gibbous"- 94% full.

CM, thanks, I was going by what some cop said on dispatch earlier today when he was asked if it was snowing where he was (location not specified) and he said "No, you wouldn't believe it. It's clear with lots of sunshine. And tonight's a full moon."
Then I, returning from my errands late this afternoon, saw the moon and thought, obviously incorrectly, that is was a new moon, since I thought I could tell it was not a full moon.
That's the background. But I love learning stuff all the time. Between you and the Farmer's Almanac I bought, I am moving right along.

Wow, is this the new Christmas Spirit. It reminds me of when I worked in retail. Parents walking around the store, Christmas shopping, smacking the kids or screaming at them the whole while.

Janice, I know what you mean.
Janice, I know what you mean. Back before the internet, say circa 1981, I worked at a West Coast department store, now defunct, called The May Company.
I worked there at Christmas time one year and, by Christmas Eve, it was not a pretty sight. People were pushing and shoving, grabbing things from one another -- saying "I had it first!"
An hour before the store closed, people were just glomming onto whatever was at hand so they'd have some sort of gift by the next day. Procrastinators were the worst.
Now, I do a lot of buying during weekdays when it's less crowded or online. Ho! Ho! Ho!
