An officer from the Sheriff's Department was dispatched to a residence on Maple Avenue in Bergen in an effort to resolve a problem with a belligerent woodchuck.
It attacked the family dog and has taken up residence in a sandbox on the property.
For now, the critter has moved along. But it likes the sandbox and may return.

Hey Doug.....got any woodchuck BBQ recipies.....I can borrow my stepson's shotgun, a couple of slugs should finish things off and we can do a neighborhood bbq right there! Sounds like a wholesome neighborhood activity to me :)
Kyle, woodchuck in the smoker
Kyle, woodchuck in the smoker should be good. Sweet corn is in season and I just bought a bag of red potatoes. A .22 head-shot should preserve as much meat as possible.
I sure wish I could apply for a .22 suppressor in NY state. Sigh, they're used in other states that believe in being polite to your neighbors. I sure could've used one when I had to shoot the raccoon inside the house a few years ago. The .22 was LOUD inside!
