Person trying to fell a tree using a tow rope and pickup on Pringle Avenue

By Billie Owens

A caller reports a possible dangerous condition on Pringle Avenue in the city -- a person is trying to yank down a tree using a tow rope and a pickup truck. A police officer just arrived on scene.

could be natures way of thinning the herd.....no seriously, don't people in Batavia have better things to do than call the police every time they see something they disagree with? couple of weeks ago someone was walking a parking lot checking vehicle inspection stickers and calling the police when they found an expired one...
I can only hope my life never becomes this boring that all I want to do is tell other people how to live.....sheesh..........
let the thumbs down begin.....................

Well, if the person who is trying to "fell the tree" had no previous experience with that sort of thing, and I lived next door....I'd be pretty concerned that that old tree wouldn't land on my property, or on my vehicle, or worse...on my house!!

That's why we have insurance Pam :)
Probably would go under his auto insurance if it landed on something of yours anyway. I was pulling out stumps with a truck a few weeks ago around my property, I'm glad nobody called the cops on me.

I love how he went right to calling the police....
FFS its your neighbor, go over and express your opinion of the danger, if he disagrees, then you can laugh when he fails.

Poor tree!

Trees --
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

OK!
NOW we're getting somewhere.

But, it's only November. Aren't the BOCES AutoBody competitions usually in late Spring?

Have actually done this quite a few times myself. You make the felling notch in the tree and then tie off the tree up high and apply pressure with a vehicle or tractor to make sure the tree falls in the desired direction.

Then you make your back cut.

Not everyone has access to a bucket or boom truck to take down a tree.

(or wants to pay someone thousands of $$$$$$)
