News of an alleged sex act in a Batavia public park and the rare adultery charge that followed has made it across the pond.
British tabloids have picked up the story. By this morning, the Daily Mail, the Sunday Mirror and the Sun all carried some version of the story. The story has also appeared in the UK's Independent.
In the U.S., such diverse news outlest as the New York Daily News, ABC, AOL and a Wall Street Journal blog have given the story play.
The Daily Mail also used pictures owned by The Batavian without permission or compensation.
The stories don't tell us anything we don't already know, but the comments on a couple of them can make for interesting reading.
The Batavian has also heard from New York-based entertainment shows looking for more information. And of course, the story has been popular with radio talk shows in Buffalo and Rochester, as well as receiving extensive coverage from the TV stations in those two cities.

Howard, have you noticed a lot of new names too? The conversations get more interesting as the demographics expand to include a fair cross section of society. I like it that way. Increased traffic indeed, I'm betting on Leno cracking a Batavia joke very soon. I hope it's not too degrading, to my birth place.

There is no doubt in my mind
There is no doubt in my mind that she and her husband will try to turn this into a payday. Wouldn't it be nice if the judge could put any money they make into a college fund for all the children in the park that day!!
If the people who reported
If the people who reported the couple originally filed a civil suit then there might be an opportunity to invoke the son of sam law. Which basically allows the court to place an attachment on any earnings made by the perpetrator of the crime. Any monies seized would go to pay off any judgment awarded to the victim. But that's not likely to happen so it's just wishful thinking.
The Today Show with Hoda and
The Today Show with Hoda and Kathy Lee Just mentioned this case and they both got some of the facts wrong. They spent about one minute discussing it. Hoda said they were tangled up and some kids saw them and reported it. Kathy said the woman was 49 and she was over 20 years older than the man involved. They never mentioned Batavia or the park.
