I wish somebody had tipped us to the new grocery store opening in Pavilion.
It's the kind of local entrepreneur story I like -- seeing a need, seeing an opportunity and taking action.
The store is being opened by Jeff and Vicki Kingdon, a Pavilion couple with no prior grocery store experience.
And it raises the question: If an entrepreneur is willing to take a chance and open a grocery store in Pavilion, why can't somebody do the same thing in Downtown Batavia?
There's some great retail space vacant downtown. There's no reason for it to remain empty.
I thought about tipping you,
I thought about tipping you, Howard ~ I really did. Guess I dropped the ball on that one! We've all been anxiously awaiting the opening of the new store. When the old store closed four years ago, it really affected many people in this town. Looking forward to meeting the new owners & giving them my business. And to have a butcher in house??! Fresh meat 7 days a week!
I can see the store from my kitchen window, so it's within walking distance which is an added bonus. I have a feeling that they're going to do very well. Good luck to the Kingdons! Yay!
I hope they do well. The kids
I hope they do well. The kids go to Pavilion School,so I do go by there occasionally-will have to go in & check out once open.Howard, have you gone by the Stafford Store lately? The size of the new store next to it looks huge....

Bob, I think the new store in Stafford is going to be quite an upgrade. I've seen the plans.

Plans??It looks like it is post frame construction,it is huge. When I went by on Fri. they have the frame and roof structure up.I wish they could've had fuel pumps there, but I believe the DEC wouldn't allow it-Black Creek is less than a 100' from the parking lot(that's what I am guessing is the reason).

We went by on Thursday. I can't believe the size of that building...or maybe it just looks big in that setting.
It also looks as if they are hoping to have it fit into the spirit of the community and not just a cookie cutter convenience store.
