2016 GENESEE COUNTY CROP HUNGER WALK
Saturday, April 30th
Join us for the annual CROP Hunger Walk on Saturday, April 30th!
The CROP Hunger Walk has been a tradition in Genesee County for 26 years. In that time, our walks have raised over $58,000!
CROP Hunger Walks are sponsored by Church World Service, an organization that works in the U.S. and around the world fighting hunger and malnutrition, providing assistance to communities in the face of disasters, helping to provide clean drinking water to communities in need and much more. Visit cwsglobal.org for more information.
CROP Hunger Walks are organized in more than 1300 communities in the U.S. each year. Walkers raise funds by asking family, friends and coworkers to sponsor them. Of the funds raised, 25% remains in the local community and 75% goes to Church World Service.
This year, the local funds will be shared by the United Way Backpack Program, a program that provides food to students in Genesee County through the schools so students have food for the weekends and: the YWCA Domestic Violence Safe House, where funds will be used to purchase food for people forced to leave their homes due to violence.
NEW THIS YEAR! The CROP Hunger Walk will take place in two locations in Genesee County at the same time. Both walks are 5K in length (3.2 miles).
One walk begins and ends at the First Presbyterian Church, 300 E. Main St. in Batavia.
The second walk begins and ends at the Corfu United Presbyterian Church, 63 Alleghany Rd. in Corfu.
Registration begins in both locations at 9:00 am and both walks begin at 9:30 am.
Walkers can participate in either walk.
Get your sponsor sheet by calling 585-343-0505 or register online at www.crophungerwalk.org/bataviany.
Walk with us to help end hunger in our community and the world!
