"Batavia's Gilded Age: James G. Cutler, Architect of the Richmond Memorial Library"
Cynthia Howk, architectural research coordinator at the Landmark Society of Western New York will present a program on James Cutler and his design of the library. Original plans for the building were not grand enough for Mrs. Richmond and her gift was increased to provide a building that met her approval. Mr. Cutler, in addition to being an architect, was at one time Mayor of Rochester and inventor of the Cutler Mail Chute.
