Collins faults Cuomo for fracking delays

By Howard B. Owens

Press release:

Congressman Chris Collins (NY-27) criticized Governor Andrew Cuomo today on the House floor for continually delaying hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, in New York.

Congressman Collins was speaking in support of legislation to limit the ability of the Obama Administration to regulate fracking. The Protecting States’ Rights to Promote American Energy Security Act (H.R. 2728), which Congressman Collins voted for, prevents the federal government from imposing new and burdensome fracking regulations on states.

“In New York we are already facing significant challenges in regards to fracking at the state level. We do not need additional, burdensome federal regulations like those proposed by the Obama Administration, which are over-the-top and step all over the state’s authority to regulate this type of activity,” Congressman Collins said. “Federal ‘one size fits all’ regulations are designed to wrap fracking efforts in endless red tape which will do nothing but slow job creation, decrease domestic energy production and increase the cost of business. “

“States should control their own destiny when it comes to fracking,” continued Collins. “In New York, I remain baffled as to why Governor Cuomo continues to cater to the state’s fringe anti-business interests by upholding the moratorium on fracking. Across the border in Pennsylvania, the economy is growing leaps and bounds because they are taking full advantage of their strategic location along the Marcellus Shale. It is sad that New York is squandering this same opportunity.”

It is estimated that, if finalized, the new regulations being proposed by the Obama Administration will cost $345 million annually or $96,913 per fracking well.

The Protecting States’ Rights to Promote American Energy Security Act also places parameters on a current Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) study related to fracking and potential impact on drinking water resources. The bill’s provisions will help ensure the EPA study produces an objective evaluation.

“There is a real and legitimate fear that the bloated bureaucracy at the EPA will once again produce an open-ended, biased and non-transparent study,” Collins said. “For any study to be helpful to both decision-makers and scientists, it needs to contain an objective risk assessment.”

chris, don't waste your time or breath on my account, putting chemicals in the ground has always been something I am against, but thank you anyways....
Now can we move on to fixing the ACA so it is fair and works for everyone?

What ACA Fix are you referring to David?

You mean the bill Chris co-sponsored that would prevent congressional staffers from receiving special subsidies that we don't get?

Do you mean how the President is attempting to change the law without congressional approval so that he can grant special subsidies to labor unions that the average Joe doesn't get?

Or do you mean the legislation that Chris supports that prevents the President from breaking his promise that "If you like your Doctor and Insurance you cane keep them?

Or do you mean the part where a 60 year old couple has to pay more for insurance because they HAVE TO have coverage for pregnancy, pre natal care and Birth Control?

I am confused, which fix are you referring to?

Here is a poll question suggestion:

Would you have supported the ACA (Obamacare) if you had known that your insurance company would have to drop you if your policy did not meet the new standards Obama said they now have to meet?

Or:
How many of you would have supported this if you knew your policy would now cost you more?

What would the point be John? Do you really think you'll get an honest answer from the Obama lovers? They are going to find a way to blame the right for the debacle the ACA has become. Blame game, blame game, blame game and nothing will change. People like me will just keep on getting screwed and the rich will just kepp on getting richer. We have to throw ALL the bums out.

How is lining the pockets of fat-cat insurance companies socialism?

The ACA is pure-t croney capitalism. Even the left is waking up the fact that all Obama and his goon squad did was make a bunch of greedy bastards even richer. This whole thing was designed to screw the American people and further enrich insurance companies.

The roots of the whole plan go back to the Nixon administration, but the Republicans (even with Mitt Romeny passing it in Mass) could never get it passed. Just as only Nixon could go to China, only a charismatic Democratic president could push this through a Democratic-controlled Congress.
