Press release:
Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) officials will hold a public information session on June 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the MedTech Center Building, located across from Genesee Community College (GCC) in Room 214. GCEDC officials are encouraging residents to attend the meeting to learn more about how the GCEDC fosters economic development in Genesee County.
Mark Masse, senior vice president of operations for GCEDC, will provide an overview of the organization, the incentives they offer, and how a potential company can be attracted to our community. A question and answer period will follow the presentation.
“This is a great opportunity for residents as well as local businesses to learn more about how our organization enhances economic growth in Genesee County,” Masse said.
Because the seating capacity is limited to about 100 persons, GCEDC is requesting that those interested in attending to please contact Rachael Tabelski, marketing and communications manager at GCEDC by calling 585-343-4866, ext. 12, or sending an e-mail to rtabelski@gcedc.com.
Follow the logic. Why do we
Follow the logic. Why do we need to enhance economic growth in Genesee County?
Because, NYS with it's high taxes, regulatory bodies and ever growing bureaucracy creates an environment that is not conducive to attracting or retaining business here. So what is the solution again? Create another statewide bureaucracy (Economic Development Corporations) to solve the problem.
Is this the meeting were they
Is this the meeting were they tell the public how great they are and why corporations like COR should be allowed to pay less sales tax on items they buy..Or why COR should not have to pay less property tax of the full assessed value of there property but other business's in Batavia should..Or why Mr. Hyde is worth over 200,000 dollars a year..It doesn't matter what the public thinks .The GCEDC and the county legislators will do what best for them and not us..Don't waste your time attending..
Read this story...http://thebatavian.com/howard-owens/some-business-property-owners-shock…

This is just a PR stunt..The GDCEC feels they need to educate us the taxpayer..Thats a joke..

Last evening I saw a commercial on Channel 2 news for a story that's going to run on their Monday evening news about the GCEDC and Steve Hyde. In this promo, they specifically mentioned Hyde's salary in comparison to Gov. Cuomo's.
I generally watch Ch 2 news and for a while they've been going after the Erie County EDC for giving away $$ to car dealerships and liquor stores, etc and I've been hoping they would take a look at the GCEDC.
This should be interesting.
Instead of offering tax
Instead of offering tax incentives, i.e. bribes for local jobs, they should band together and lobby Albany to be more business/corporation friendly.
I may be mistaken, but,
I may be mistaken, but, didn't I read somewhere that the reason Mr. Hyde was worth 200,000 dollars a year was because he used good grammar and spelling? Or, was that just my imagination? What say you, Ms. Kinsley?
