A reader sent in this photo of game players waiting outisde of Game Stop in Batavia tonight for the release -- three hours from now -- of Call of Duty - Black Ops II. A friend of mine posted on Facebook a similar picture of fans outside a Game Stop location in Los Angeles.
Get a life.
Get a life.
Are they only selling 100
Are they only selling 100 copies of this game.... I hear ya Dave.
Actually guys, the store
Actually guys, the store sometimes makes it worth your while to camp out in front of a store for a midnight release of a big title such as Call of Duty Black OPs 2. They often hand out cool freebies to the first X amount of people that purchase the games. To be honest, video gaming is an entire culture. Just because this isn't your ideal lifestyle, doesn't mean they don't have a life. These kids are just excited about the game and can't wait to play it. I can't blame them. Video gaming is a big part of life for youths, its social, competitive, requires a great deal of skill, problem solving, thinking, and hand eye coordination. I'm 30 and I am now an occasional gamer, but I remember when it was a major form of entertainment in my life. Besides, most kids have more of a "life" than most adults. At least as far as social lives are concerned.
No different than my
No different than my generation knocking each other down to buy Cabbage Patch Dolls. Actually very different. No pushing or shoving.
Good post, David.

This picture reminds me of
This picture reminds me of camping out in front of our local wally world in 2005 for the launch of the xbox 360. My friend and I knew the quantities would be extremely limited. We started the line at around 7pm, the line quickly grew to around 20 of us (which was the amount of consoles that store was getting) for a release of 6am the next morning. It was in november and I absolutely froze all night, and even though i vowed to never do that again, it was well worth it :) Times have changed now though and since E commerce has exploded any "toy" i want i just pre buy at amazon.com and i always receive it on launch day. Got my Black ops early this morning from the friendly neighborhood UPS man.
Well back to saving the world from zombies....you can thank me later :)
