Based on viewing our traffic stats -- page views for congressional race stories and Facebook engagement stats for the same stories -- I thought the results of this poll would be completely reversed.
Actually, the percent of voters in a Presidential year averages about 64%. Primaries however, traditionally hover at 35-40% of party loyals. Charlie is spot on in that we probably will never see an 80% turn out.
Maybe the real key to changing the system is to get those disenfranchised people out to vote. I wonder how well the half truths, spin and slogans would work on them.

Over 80% of people showing up to vote is pretty unlikely. I wonder when the last time the number was anywhere near 50%.

I believe that turnout in Genesee County in 2008 was around 68 percent.
