Today's Poll: Should New York legalize online poker?

While they're at it, they should bring back MMA events, too. I get really tired of people telling other people what they should and should not do. (Gambling, drinking, drugs, boxing, MMA...etc)

Doug, its the narrow minded thinkers, who think because they don't do/like something, for whatever reason,
it should be illegal.

" If it's not fun for me, it should be illegal for you"
Next, they whine to a politician like Chuck Schumer, and just
like that, we lost another freedom.

Doug,

It's the status quo in this country. The moral majority controls what's done and said on t.v., the holier than thou against drinking, smoking, gambling, etc.

They must lead very, boring, and limited lives.

It's been my experience that people who try to control other people's lives do so because they do not have power over their OWN lives in one way or another.

I +1'd all of you because I didn't want to just reiterate your points. I'm so glad though, that there are people around to tell me what I should and shouldn't do, because I'd be so lost otherwise.

What surprises me is that this and others like it havn't been legal for ages. Just think of all the new taxes they can generate to bring even more money into thier coffers.

Another "sin tax" to join the rest of them.

The feds don't have a problem with it. That's what the 1099-G is for.

You always hear the argument of how damaging and self destructive it can be. "Gambling Addiction" they call it. Well there are more people who do not have a problem with it than those who do.

The key is freedom and liberty.

Even if those who are against it say it is stupid and destructive, let me ask you this. Do you not have the right to be stupid? If your morality says it is wrong, do you have the right to impose your morality onto someone else?

With any law or regulation, hold it up to the light of liberty. And ask, does this make us more free, or give more power to the government?

For the record, I don't gamble. I feel it is a waste of my precious funds. The "house" is always the ultimate winner in any gambling venue.

These are MY VIEWS! Not to be imposed on anyone else. That would go against everything our founders fought for over 200 years ago.

"For the record, I don't gamble. I feel it is a waste of my precious funds. The "house" is always the ultimate winner in any gambling venue."

Not really applicable to poker.

The house takes a rake, but whether a players comes out ahead over the long term or is a long-term loser is really a matter of the skill of the player. There are no house odds in poker, like there is in blackjack (though a beatable game for card counters) and with slots, roulette, and other games of pure chance, the house maintains a permanent mathematical advantage.

My reference in that statement was to all forms of gambling. From the state lottery on down.

Including but not limited to online gambling, non indian reservation casinos, sports betting, whatever people may want to gamble on. As long as no other laws are broken, ie dog fighting.

People should be allowed to gamble if they want. I personally don't because I know that I would loose everything and sell my shoes once I started playing so I have always limited myself to Lotto on occasion. I can't even play Bingo or pull tabs cause I want to keep playing. I just will never set foot in a casino and that is my choice. People who know me always push me to go and I adamantly refuse. Let people make their own choices on anything that affect them personally.

Man, this is funny.

Why do people, who probably don't gamble, care if people who want to, do?

Hypocrites and fools.

Couls someone who voted no please list something they like, so I can take it away? Thanks!

I do like to gamble and I can often be spotted at Batavia Downs playing games of chance. My bills are paid, I have savings and I'm gainfully employed. Mary and I have fun playing and people watching. I believe that responsible people can have fun gambling any way they want to.
