:Long over do this quality of life........
Hats off to all involved in the loop project and if needed, how can we climb aboard and help make this a reality?
Long over do is correct. In the town of Webster, they turned the old railroad tracks into walking/bike paths. They are blacktop paved and beautiful. There are many tracks around here that are all overgrown with weeds, etc and need to be taken care of. It needs to become reality, I would love to see it happen.
If they could place a few food trailers and rest stop areas along the route, maybe one or two in each quadrant, it could work and make a profit for some home grown aspiring entrepreneurs. Stuff yourself up and then walk it off or vice versa. I used to love riding my bike for fifteen miles and stopping for a couple of margaritas when the ride was nearly over and close to home. In fact it was one of the best reasons to ride.
I doubt many people in Batavia even know what those are, peter. Yes 63 of all places....if you have a death wish. Nothing like breathing in all the fumes from all the truck going through there. There is a trail called the greenway that runs for quite a way. It Iis mostly stone and goes through several counties. Monroe, livingston, wyoming.
Another idea to toss out would be sponsorships. Groups, individuals and businesses to take a section of the path and raise/contribute money towards its construction and also to maintain and take care of (plant flowers, pick up trash, place benches etc). There could be small signs along the way to let folks know who is sponsoring the next 1/4 mile, or 1/2 or whatever. George's idea of concessions is also great.
