Genesee County's November unemployment percentage hit its lowest rate in nearly a decade, according to data released today by the Department of Labor.
The November rate was 4.6, which is better than the 5.1 rate a year ago, and better than the 8.5 rate at the height of the recession in 2009.
The rate in 2006 was 4.1 and it was 4.7 in 2007.
The October 2015 rate was 4.2. The November rate is traditionally higher than the October rate.
There are 200 more Genesee County residents employed in 2015 than a year ago, with 28,200 reportedly having jobs.
The GLOW region unemployment rate is 4.8 percent, compared to 5.6 percent a year ago.
There are 22,700 non-farm jobs in the county, compared to 22,900 a year ago and 23,200 in October.

Reading beyond the raw
Reading beyond the raw unemployment numbers paints a bit of a different picture. The number of Geneseans working (labor participation rate) shows a steady decline. There are actually thousands fewer Geneseans working now than even at the aforementioned height of the recession. Let's go back just 2 years ago...the median income in Genesee County was $17,000 higher, the poverty rate was 12%, it is currently 13.6%. There are more Geneseans on the free or reduced lunch program, the number of employed Geneseans without health insurance is actually higher now than 2 years ago (strange, since it is now illegal to NOT have health insurance), median female income is LOWER, the poverty rate for blacks and Hispanics is 41% HIGHER (so much for fighting for minorities and the middle class)...so yeah, Thanks Obama!
These numbers are better than the rest of the state as a whole and I attribute that to a hard working and resilient labor force. We are doing better than the rest of the state IN SPITE of Obama, not because of him

it states, "Starting in 2014, every person in the U.S. must have minimum health coverage or an exemption."
Let me emphasize the last part of that sentence, again - MUST HAVE MINIMUM HEALTH COVERAGE OR AN EXEMPTION.
Nowhere does it say it's illegal to NOT have health insurance. Unless, of course, you can post a reputable link proving otherwise.

Well, let's see Ed. The only exemption is proving that you are covered by someone else's health insurance. It is now mandatory that every person in the US is covered by health insurance whether you purchase it or someone else purchases it. Oh yeah, if you don't have it, you pay a "fee" (fine). When are people compelled by government to pay fines?
A speed limit is a law, when you exceed the speed limit and are caught you have broken the law and you pay a fine therefore not adhering to the speed limit is "illegal"
The ACA (the law) makes it mandatory that all Americans are covered by health insurance and if a person is found NOT to have health insurance, they are fined (the wordsmiths in the government came up with a pleasant sounding term calling it the "Individual Shared Responsibility Payment") therefore not adhering to the precepts of the ACA (the law) by NOT having health insurance is "illegal". In fact, in the text of many laws it never says that doing or not doing something is illegal. If you search the text of NYS traffic law, the word illegal is not even used. It states the rules and the consequences of not adhering to them, illegality is implied by virtue of action/consequence. You can slice it as thin as you like, it will still taste the same.

Again, post a reputable link that states "IT IS NOW ILLEGAL TO NOT HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE" - Those were YOUR words - Now, back them up (and getting a ticket for exceeding the speed limit has NOTHING to do with the ACA - But, nice try).

Alright Ed, I am going to acquiesce (even though it makes no impact on the original point of my post). You are correct, for a certain percentage of the American population, it is not illegal to not have health insurance. I am also glad you brought up the point because in studying the exemptions you link it reveals the ACA to be an even bigger boondoggle than I already imagined (just more of the "We have to pass it to find out whats in it"). I encourage you to do some research into the exemptions and then hold them up to the whole purpose of the ACA in respect to coverage vs. cost vs. who pays the costs. It is now even more absurd than it was before....Thanks Obama
