The condition of a boy hit by a car on Washington Avenue last Wednesday has improved, according to Det. Richard Schauf of the Batavia Police Department.
Thirteen-year-old James Difalco is now listed in stable condition at Buffalo Women's and Children's Hospital, Schauf said this morning.
Difalco sustained a head injury when he reportedly ran into the street and was hit by a car. The driver has not been charged.
It didn't hit me until
It didn't hit me until reading this article on how many kids have been just blindly flying into the road trying to cross it.
There were a group of kids over by Subway screwing around a few days ago, then the same group yesterday ran right out in front of me crossing the road to get to Wendy's.
Darn those kids. This is one
Darn those kids. This is one test they only fail once.
HEY If you're reading this.
HEY If you're reading this. "please slow down over by the Ice rink.I waited to pick my kid up and watched cars going to fast for as many people out there on a friday night.
Another issue is the trauma
Another issue is the trauma caused to the innocent driver that strikes the pedestrian no matter what the age who wasn"t using due regard. All of a sudden they are wrapped in a cloak of guilt for something out of their control.
I don't know if I could
I don't know if I could handle it if a kid darted out in front of my car and I couldn't stop -- no matter what I was doing, speed I was going or whatever other factors might be going on with me or my vehicle. Even if I was going slow, 100 percent attentive and there was just nothing I could do, I don't think I could handle it. And I try to be as careful as I can be on Batavia's residential streets, which are often tight and with lots of activity.
