A very good idea for new development areas, but to try and retrofit a whole city or town, the cost would be prohibitive to say the least.

Barring sink holes, floods or earthquakes, it sounds like the way to go. Take a look at some of the telephone poles out there, rough shape...especially the "leaners"

Anyone know the life expectency of the average telephone pole?
