The nonprofit group Volunteers for Animals is trying to put together a list of local homes willing to take in barn cats.
From time to time, they get cats that would not fit well into a home as pets, and are most likely part feral. All cats are vetted, spay/neutered.
If you are able to take in one or two, please let them know. It would really help them out in a crunch.

The first two cats I got
The first two cats I got literally came from a barn in Wyoming county. The brother and sister pair are now almost 14 years old. They're great companions and they tolerate me well. The third cat was an adoption from a friend that could no longer keep him. He spends his time sleeping in a box that's on top of the chest freezer in the basement. He guards the coal stove with an air of laziness any cat would be proud of.
I would take more if I could, but three is enough. If you want a pet that is super easy to take care of, a cat is the perfect choice. They require some cat food, water and a spot they can call their own. Just remember, they own you, not the other way around. Cats rule, dogs drool.
LOL Doug you got that right,
LOL Doug you got that right, my cats have mothered me every time I have gotten sick, even swiping at my stepson when he tries to be obnoxious. As far as the comparison of cats over dogs, my older cat refuses to go outside (could be related to her rescue) but the younger one does venture out if I put her on a leash. As for simplicity excercise and play are taken care of w a laser dot and rings off a gallon of milk. The will play with them for hours ignoring all the fancy cat toys. They even pick them up like dogs and bring them up to my lap so we can play fetch. As you said cats rule....(but both of mine will drool once they roll over for belly rubs)
I would take a few of these
I would take a few of these poor guys but my niece tells me that any more than three cats and I am officially a cat lady.
I am officially a cat lady,
I am officially a cat lady, plus the giant dog "Pachuco." If I lived in the country, I'd add a peacock, rooster, ducks, and a billy goat.
Apparently I am also
Apparently I am also officially a cat lady, have four that have all "appeared" in our yard and I wouldn't change a dang thing! Love them all along with each different attitude, lol!
