The Fine Arts Committee of Genesee Community College is pleased to bring to campus a unique theatrical experience. Galumpha Dance/Physical Theatre will perform on Friday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Stuart Steiner Theatre.

Prior to the show, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., an opening reception for the exhibit "The Alchemy of Objects" by Rochester artist Lee Hoag will be held in the Roz Steiner Art Gallery featuring free live music and appetizers.

The word "galumph" means to leap or move about joyfully. Based in Binghamton, Galumpha combines inventive choreography and playful exuberance to bring to life a world of imagination, beauty, muscle, and merriment. Their experiments in human architecture have been seen on The Late Show with David Letterman, the MDA Jerry Lewis Telethon, Showtime and A&E.

They will perform one show only. Tickets are $10, $8 for seniors 55 and over, and $5 for students. GCC alumni who show their ID receive a $2 discount.

When you visit multimedia artist Lee Hoag's exhibit in the Roz Steiner Art Gallery, you'll see everyday objects in a different way. Hoag takes the ordinary -- from hardware to food prep items -- and turns them into art.

"These utilitarian objects are altered and recreated into something extraordinary and unique," writes Hoag. Hoag's exhibit will be on display in the Roz Steiner Gallery from Nov. 12 through Dec. 20. The Gallery is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by special appointment.
