Thomas D. Coveny

Batavia - Thomas D. Coveny, age 58, of Batavia, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Rochester General Hospital, in Rochester.

Tom was born in Rochester, a son of Doris E. Goss Bater of Cape Vincent and the late Richard F. Coveny.

He was an avid hunter; often traveling globally to hunt. He enjoyed scuba diving and was a member of the Professional Diving Instructors Association (P.D.I.C.) where he was a certified master dive instructor. An avid trapshooter, Tom was a member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) and competed in numerous trapshooting leagues in the area. He was also a member of the National Wildlife Turkey Federation (NWTF), Sportsmans Coonhunters Association and the National Rifle Association (N.R.A.). He enjoyed riding ATV's in the 1000 Islands and loved to travel.

Tom will be remembered for his heart of gold, willingness to help anyone in need, a “jack-of-all trades” who was well-loved by many.

Surviving along with his mother are his daughter, Sara R. (Gretchen-Lena Bey) Coveny of Seminole, Florida; two brothers, Douglas R. Coveny and Charles F. Coveny, both of Byron; his sister, Ellen L. Boyce of Byron; his loving companion, Donna M. Hall of Batavia; his nephew, Joshua (Hannah) Coveny who is currently stationed with the United States Coast Guard in Texas; his niece, Joye Coveny of Bergen; and extended family.

There are no prior visiting hours.
