Mr. Ivan S. Inouye

LeRoy - Ivan S. Inouye, 78 of LeRoy,  passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Strong Memorial Hospital.

He was born Wednesday, June 21st, 1944 in Nampa, Idaho a son of the late Frank Inouye and Toshi Inouye.

A member of the Bergen United Methodist Church, he enjoyed playing golf and gardening. In his younger years Ivan enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He served in the Air National Guard for 23 years and worked for several divisions of Kraft Food for 46 years.

He is survived by his wife, Susan A. Ireland Inouye whom he married on September 30, 1972. He is also survived by his children, Michelle Inouye of Avon; Nicole (Donald, III) Bockoven of Germantown, Maryland and her son, Aiden Bockoven also of Germantown, Maryland and Jared Inouye of LeRoy and his sister, Lucy (Keith) Harmon of Kansas City, Missouri.  

There are no prior visiting hours. His celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Bergen United Methodist Church, 27 South Lake Avenue, Bergen. Judith A. Piscitello

Judith A. Piscitello, 70, Dowling Park, FL passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. She is preceded in death by her husband; Charles Joseph Piscitello.

Mrs. Piscitello is survived by her step-son; Dominic Robert Piscitello (Tracy); sisters Carol Fife (Joseph), Barb Shepherd (Michael); brothers David Ingram (Karen), Richard Ingram; grandchildren JoAnna Pang (Christopher), Emily McCullorgh (Ron), Dominic Piscitello (Sarah), Paige Piscitello; great-grandchildren Adeline, Abigail, Henry, Samuel, Madelyn, Elijah, Dominic, Guiliana, Giselle; several nieces & nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours as Services will be held at the Village Church in Advent Christian Village in Florida. Judith will be laid to rest in Grand View Cemetery in Batavia.

Donald L. Freeman

LeRoy ~ Donald L. Freeman, age 88, of Gilbert Street, passed away at home unexpectedly on Saturday, April 8, 2023.

   

  He was born October 21, 1934 in Wyoming, N.Y., a son of the late Ralph and Elsie Stevens Freeman.

     Don will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and dear friend to many.  He served proudly in the Army National Guard.  He was a 69 year member of the Stafford Fire Dept., a charter member of the exempts, and a member of the Western New York Fire Police Association.  He was also very involved with the Stafford Carnival corvette raffle ticket sales.  Don was a retiree of Lapp Insulator Company, providing them with 42 years of dedicated service.  He was also a avid Buffalo Bills fan.

     He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 56 years, Diane Scott Freeman; his sons, Jeffery (Yvonne) Freeman and Todd (Rachel) Freeman; grandchildren, Ashley (Gary), Zachary, Schuyler, Teaghan, Noah and Thomas; great-grandchildren, Bruce, Max and Nora; sister, Barbara (Lester) Mullen, along with many nieces and nephews.

     In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Raymond (Joyce) Freeman.

     There will be no prior visitation and services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Alice Dix

Alice Dix, 91, of Alabama, NY, was welcomed with opened arms by her husband Bob and son Bill early morning on Friday, April 7, 2023. 
Alice was born on July 25, 1931 at the Starkweather homestead in Alabama, NY, daughter of the late Myron and Mary (Crosby) Starkweather. Her Husband, Robert Dix, a talented craftsman and previous owner of J.E. Potter Lumber in Corfu, NY, passed away on July 19, 2010.

Alice was a member of the Alabama Basom United Methodist Church in Alabama, NY. She devoted so much of her life to caring for others, starting with earning her Nursing Degree at Deaconess in 1948. She worked as a Registered Nurse for 30 years in various doctors offices and hospitals. Alice enjoyed watching the Buffalo Bills, knitting, crocheting, and painting in her spare time, She especially loved sharing her love for art with her grandchildren. Alice and her husband Bob were married for 59 years and met their goal of traveling to all 50 states together. For many years they split their time between western New York and the West coast of Florida. They enjoyed traveling the world, listening to concert music, and spending time with their family and friends.  Alice was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Alice is survived by her daughter Denise (late Jeffrey) Schwarz, daughter-in-law Mary (Borgal) Dix; grandchildren, Jennifer (Taylor) Wood, Robert (Amanda) Dix, William (Capri) Dix, and Thomas Dix; as well as 14 Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death by her Parents Myron and Mary Starkweather; her six siblings; Husband Robert Dix; son William Dix; and several nieces and nephews.
    
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, April 12th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the C. B. Beach & Son Mortuary, Inc.,  4 E. Main St. Corfu, NY. Funeral services will be held on Thursday April 13th at 11:00 a.m.  at the Alabama Basom United Methodist Church, 1392 Church Street Alabama NY, followed by burial at Alabama Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to a luncheon following the burial at The Alabama Hotel 1353 Lewiston Rd. Basom NY to celebrate the life of Alice Dix. Memorials can be sent to Alabama Basom United Methodist Church.  

Rodney K. Papke

Mr. Rodney K. Papke, age 89 of Homosassa, Florida, died Thursday, February 9, 2023 in Homosassa, FL. He was born February 2, 1934 in Le Roy, NY, son of Raymond and Genevive (Ackley) Papke. He was a US Army veteran and Presbyterian by faith. Rodney worked at Niagara Mohawk in the Hydro Electric Generator Maintenance Division.  He moved to Homosassa, Florida from Stafford, NY in 1994. Rodney loved to build and ride motorcycles, build and fly airplanes and was excellent at building, inventing and doing things with his hands. He enjoyed being on the water fishing and especially loved spending time with his family.  Rodney was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife, Constance Papke. Survivors include sons, Keith R (Jerri) Papke  and  Michael J (Karen) Papke, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Karen Ruth Porter Vereecken

Karen Ruth Porter Vereecken passed away peacefully at the age of 79.  Karen was born in Batavia, NY at St Jerome’s Hospital on December 18, 1943.  After graduating from high school from Elba Central School, in Elba NY, she worked as a bookkeeper until she married her high school sweetheart, Bruce on May 29, 1965.  They had 3 children Kathy, Joe and David. They moved to Cleveland, OH in 1969 and then to Akron in 1973 where they remained lifelong residents.

Karen was a member of St Hilary Parish where she enjoyed singing in the Choir until her health declined and she could no longer participate.  Recently, she greatly enjoyed her bible study group and the many friends she made there. Her greatest joy was being a wife, mother and grandmother.  She was a wonderful cook and baker.  She always made everything from scratch. She learned to cook Italian style from her Italian mother-in-law and always had a big pot of spaghetti sauce cooking.  Many of the kids’ friends enjoyed afternoons having pasta at the Vereecken kitchen table. She passed the recipe on to her grandchildren who continue the tradition.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Duane and Dorothy Porter.  She was also preceded by 3 of her 6 brothers, Craig, Kris and Kevin Porter.  She is survived by brothers, Casey, Clay and Keith Porter.

Karen leaves behind her husband of 57 years Bruce, children Kathy (Victor) Lane of Akron, OH, Joe (Laine) Vereecken of Fairlawn, OH and David (Heather) Vereecken of Akron, OH. She treasured her 7 beautiful grandchildren, Christopher Lane, David Lane, Amy Lane, Drew Vereecken, Heidi Vereecken, Isabelle Vereecken and Vincent Vereecken. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 13, 2023, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Road, Copley OH. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:30 on Friday, April 14, 2023, at St. Sebastian Church, 476 Mull Ave, Akron OH.  A burial will immediately follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Lynn (Miles) Draves

Lynn (Miles) Draves of Attica, N.Y., born March 12, 1959, passed peacefully at UMMC Batavia on April 1, 2023.

She leaves behind the love of her life, Richard Draves Jr., and her four children, Kevin (Jen) Draves of Darien, Neil (Jess) Draves of Alexander, Hope Draves of Attica and Dawn (Joe) Draves of Pavilion. Lynn was the daughter of late Robert and Linda Miles of Corfu and the sister of Kathy Miles of Corfu, Ron (Kellie) Miles of Corfu, Ginger (Joe) Pepper of Alden, and Dan (Jody) Miles of Batavia. Also leaving behind her grandchildren Nikki, Ashton, Layne, Katelynn, Savannah, Sean and Mason. She loved them all along with all of her nieces and nephews.

Lynn was the rock of the family and loved everyone very much. She was the secretary for the family business Draves Tree Service for many, many years. She loved gardening, watching her birds and most of all her family.

There will be no calling hours but a celebration of life at a later date.

Robert V. Chapman

Byron ~ Robert Victor Chapman went to his happy hunting grounds peacefully on April 5, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.  Robert was born in Batavia, N.Y. on October 3, 1942.

   

  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.  His love of the outdoors began at a young age alongside his father, grandfather and dear friends.  Bob was only a teenager and already winning national recognition as a sharpshooter, which led him into the Army Reserves as a Drill Sergeant and rifle trainer, sharing his expertise and knowledge with others.

     After the reserves, Bob enjoyed teaching the youth gun safety and marksmanship, as well as, sharing his passion of fishing and hunting.  His love for hunting took him around the world and gave him the opportunity to experience animals that most of us will never see.  Even with all these experiences, what he loved most of all was teaching his children and grandchildren and making many memories at his hunting cabin built by him and his dear friends.

     Bob was predeceased by his mother, Margaret Chapman and his father, Robert W. Chapman, along with many of his hunting buddies.

     He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Gloria Chapman; sister, Lucinda Hayes; sons, Brent (Judy) Chapman, Robert W. (Molly) Chapman and Andrew Chapman; daughter, Rebecca (Matthew) Roggow; grandchildren, Jared Roggow, Jacob Roggow, Jaden Roggow, Kaelin Chapman, William Chapman, Alexander Chapman and Gavin Chapman, along with countless other beloved family members and friends.

     Bob’s family and friends are invited to celebrate and share their memories on Monday, April 10 from 4 ~ 8 P.M. at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake St. Rd., LeRoy.  His Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 11 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 31 Washington Avenue, Batavia, N.Y.

     Bob would not want you to shed a tear for him, but instead, celebrate the “FANTASTIC” memories you had with him and “HOPE FOR THE BEST!”.

Jeffrey A. Stehlar

Jeffrey A. Stehlar Rochester, New York Passed away on, March 28, 2023 at the age of 56 surrounded by family at Strong Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his son, Kasey A. Stehlar; Mother, Patricia (Robert) Jones; Father, Charles E. (Betsy) Stehlar; brother, Thomas (Judy) Stehlar & Robert Stehlar; one niece & numerous nephews and cousins.
Jeff loved motocross, 4 wheeling and snowmobiling with his friends. He was a big fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, and also the Raiders. He also was a lifelong fan of Nascar and his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Robert G. Daniel

Robert G. Daniel, 95 of Sheldon, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2023, at Charlotte House surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Sheldon on March 3, 1928, son of the late George and Estella (Gebel) Daniel. 

Bob owned and operated Daniel Dairy Farm in Sheldon for over 50 years.  He loved driving and in addition to working the family farm, he drove school bus, milk truck, snow plow and had a trucking business hauling hay, sawdust and paper bedding to local farms.  Later in life, he enjoyed meeting friends at his favorite restaurants and driving his 4-wheeler around the farm with Maggie, the farm dog by his side.

Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Patricia (Streicher) Daniel whom he married September 6, 1958, his sons James (Linda), Gary (Ann); grandchildren, Dylan (Alicia), Deanna and Curtis; step grandchildren Brian Zanghi and Krista (Howard) Gutzman and step great grandchildren Mikaila, Aiden, Hayden and Georgia, sisters Jean (late Carl) George, Donna (Robert) Kirsch, brother-in-law Jack Streicher and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Bob at 11 am on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at St. John Neumann Church, Sheldon site, 991 Centerline Rd. He will be laid to rest in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Sheldon.

Michael Steven Wacht Jr.

Michael Steven Wacht Jr., 81, of Corfu died peacefully on March 31, 2023 after a series of health issues. He was born on June 18, 1941 in Depew to the late Michael S. Wacht Sr. and Wanda (Bernacki) Wacht.

He was the beloved father to Kimberly (Bob Shaw), Leigh (Ken Pyc), Holly and Tracy Ann (Tim) Fraley; brother to Bernice Porter and Antoinette Cooper; grandfather to Alek Michael Wacht and Jasmine, Andres & Luisa Pyc; great-grandfather to Alivia and Hayley Wacht, along with many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A private service will be for family. Michael will be laid to rest in the Western New York National Cemetery in Corfu with Military Honors.

Donald J. Moynihan

Donald J. Moynihan, 94 of Syracuse, formerly of Batavia, passed peacefully on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Jewish Home of Central New York in Syracuse. He was born July 15, 1928 in Batavia to the late John and Rose (Eichenger) Moynihan. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan T. Moynihan, brothers, John, Bernard and Francis Moynihan.

Mr. Moynihan was a proud United States Army Veteran. Don worked as a Registered Nurse and Administrator for Attica Correctional Facility for 32 years. He was a member of the Batavia RC Flying Club and enjoyed building and flying radio control model airplanes and helicopters. He planned summer camping vacations to Cape Cod, Alleghany State Park and two family cross country trips. Don also enjoyed photography, history, Yankees baseball and World War II airplanes. In 2016 he moved to Syracuse to be closer to his daughter Debbie and enjoyed attending Syracuse University basketball games.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Deborah Skeele of Manlius, brother-in-law, Kenneth Dehm, two grandchildren, Matthew and Melissa, along with many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held this summer. He will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum, Batavia.

Timothy Lee Sanner

Timothy Lee Sanner - June 4, 1968- April 3, 2023
Timothy Lee Sanner, 54 of Pembroke, NY went to be with his lord and savior on April 3, 2023. He was born in Detroit Michigan to Theda and the late Gary Sanner. Timothy was married to the love of his life Jamie Sanner for 24 years.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1986 - 1994 as a helicopter mechanic in Fort Polk and Fort Drum. Soon after the Army, he started his career with Norfolk Southern Railway. He became an engineer in 1994 in Corning, NY. Over time, following those rails led him to Buffalo, NY in 1996.

Timothy had many hobbies including traveling with his wife and spending time with his children. If he wasn’t on the sidelines of football, baseball, and soccer games for his grandkids, he was cheering for the Buffalo Bills and the New York Mets. Timothy was always helping others and volunteering his time with numerous activities his children were involved in as they grew up. He was an amazing family man, who cared more for his family than anyone could imagine. He could fix anything in his garage and probably have just the part you needed. Timothy was a member of American legion post 332 of Batavia, NY and One Church in Akron, NY.

He is survived by his brother John (Olwyn) Sanner, and his sisters Laura (Denny) Casto, Diane (Craig) Ginter and Karen (Charles) Ax. He raised a beautiful family Colby (Kristina)
Sanner, Sabrina Sanner and Kassandra (Douglas) Carlsen. Along with 4 beautiful grandchildren, Brantley, Grey, Tucker and Lincoln.

Friends are invited to call at One Church, Thursday April 6th from 3pm-6pm and Friday April 7th from 10am-12pm; service to follow at noon after that 10-12 visitation. 6 Scotland Rd, Akron NY. He will be laid to rest in the Western New York National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Western New York National Cemetery. 

Lawrence J. "Bummer" Corp Jr.

Lawrence J. “Bummer” Corp Jr., 54 of Batavia, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023, peacefully at his home. He was born in Buffalo, March 10, 1969 to Lawrence J. Corp Sr. of Angola and Michele Lee (Gillette) Snook of LeRoy. 

Bummer loved being a truck driver, he drove for Paul Marshall Produce Inc. in Batavia and Walton Milk Hauling Inc in Alexander. He loved driving or riding anything, especially his Harley Davidson. Larry, enjoyed hiking, being outside, family reunions in PA, dancing on tables, going to the lake, boating and tubing. He will be remembered as loving, fearless and a Free Bird at heart.

Along with his parents, he is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Karen M. (Wenzel) Corp of Batavia, children, Kayla Corp of Batavia, Katlyn Corp of LeRoy, Kristen and Brandon Corp of Batavia, siblings, Robin Hummel of NC, Tom (Regina) Corp, Tim (Linsey) Corp, Jerimiah (Ashley) Corp, Richard Corp, Tammy Corp, James Corp, step-father, Chester Hummel of Pavilion, his dog Bella, along with many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Saturday, April 8, 2023 from 12 to 1pm at Grace Baptist Church, 238 Vine St, Batavia, New York 14020. A 1:00pm Celebration of his Life will immediately follow at the church.
