Woman falls in parking lot, car rolls over her, she stands up

A woman reportedly fell in the parking lot of 226 Ellicott St., Batavia, and then a car rolled over her.

The woman has since stood up.

Batavia fire and Le Roy ambulance are responding (all Mercy EMS ambulances are tied up).

UPDATE 9:49 a.m.: The woman was not struck by the vehicle. City fire reports, "she more or less fell under the car." The responding ambulance (which may be Mercy EMS now) can come in non-emergency.

Car vs. pole accident reported on Clinton Street Road, Bergen

A car has struck a pole on Clinton Street Road in Bergen.

Injuries are reported.

Bergen fire and ambulance responding.

UPDATE 9:46 a.m.: The car is cold. This accident apparently happened some time ago and nobody is around. Bergen fire back in service.

Car hits guard rail on Thruway, unknown injuries

A car has reportedly struck a guard rail on the Thruway in the area of mile marker 394.

Dispatchers have received multiple calls. One caller reports the car struck the guard rail head-on.

No word on possible injuries.

East Pembroke fire is responding.

UPDATE 9:29 a.m.: Mercy ambulance on scene, confirming minor injuries. The location is mile marker 394.6.

UPDATE 9:50 a.m.: East Pembroke back in service.

Two-car accident reported at Oak Orchard and North Byron, Elba

A two-car accident is reported at Oak Orchard and North Byron roads.

Traffic is being shut down on Route 98.

Initially, the accident was reported as minor injury, but the Mercy EMS response has been canceled by the chief on scene.

Elba fire is responding.

Rollover accident reported on Route 98, no injuries

A one-vehicle rollover accident is reported in the area of 7736 Oak Orchard Road, Batavia.

There's one occupant and he's saying he's not injured.

Town of Batavia fire and Mercy EMS responding.

UPDATE 5:07 p.m.: Responders are told to proceed with caution. Several vehicles reportedly off the road in the area.

UPDATE 5:35 p.m.: Another no-injury rollover accident reported in Batavia, at 3427 Batavia Elba Townline Road.

Collision with possible serious injuries reported on eastbound Thruway

A two-vehicle accident with possible serious injuries is reported on the eastbound Thruway near mile marker 388.2, by the college. There is "serious entrapment" and at least two people are injured. Town of Batavia, with all available manpower, and two Mercy medic rigs are responding.

UPDATE 6:38 p.m.: Mercy Flight is put "in air." Eastbound traffic is heavy and the lanes are blocked and backing up. A third ambulance is requested. Le Roy rescue is also called in.

UPDATE 6:42 p.m.: Oakfield fire is requested to stand by in Town of Batavia fire station number 1.

UPDATE 6:45 p.m.: The entrapment is characterized as "extreme" by a responder, involving the dashboard. Traffic is heavily backed up. "We'll be trying to land this bird on the Thruway when it's time."

UPDATE 6:47 p.m.: In conjuction with the state Thruway Authority, the eastbound Thruway is shut down and traffic will be required to exit in Batavia. Mercy Flight is circling over the scene, preparing to land.

UPDATE 6:55 p.m.: The Mercy Flight crew is told that their patient is a male, about 30 years old, in need of "significant extrication" efforts. He is said to have moderate injuries, and an altered mental status. His complaints include chest pain and difficulty breathing. A heavy wrecker will be needed to tow a semi truck. The second vehicle involved is possibly a pickup truck.

UPDATE 7:08 p.m.: Patient(s) extricated.

UPDATE 7:18 p.m.: The patient requiring Mercy Flight transport is loaded on the helicopter, which will soon be airborne.

UPDATE 7:21 p.m.: Mercy Flight is airborne and headed to Strong Memorial Hospital.

UPDATE 7:24 p.m.: Le Roy is back in service. The three Mercy units are clearing the Thruway scene. The eastbound Thruway will be opened to a single lane. Town of Batavia is picking up and preparing to go back in service. State Police are on scene. Two flatbed tow trucks are en route.

UPDATE 8:15 p.m.: The Town of Batavia assignment is back in service, along with Oakfield which provided standby assistance, and the eastbound Thruway is reopened.

Fatal accident on Route 63 near Shepard Road

One person was killed early this morning when a passenger vehicle and semi-truck hit head on on Route 63, just south of Shepard Road, Town of Batavia.

The location is just yards south of the former Rosie's Diner.

Town of Batavia fire is on scene. The accident is being investigated by the Sheriff's Office Crash Management Team. A coroner is in route.

Route 63 is closed in both directions.

UPDATE: John P. Dow, of Pavilion, was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Donald Coleman. Dow was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Envoy southbound on Route 63. Truck driver Iqbal S. Dhadda, 35, of Brampton, Ontario, Canada, said Dow's vehicle crossed completely into the northbound lane. The SUV and truck hit head-on. According to a Sheriff's Office press release, impairment may have been a factor in the crash. The accident was reported at 1:42 a.m. Dhadda was not seriously injured.

The accident investigation is being conducted by Deputy Joseph Corona, Deputy Frank Bordonaro, Deputy Jason Saile, Deputy John Duyssen and investigator Roger Stone. Assisting at the scene were Batavia PD, State Police, Town of Batavia fire and Bethany fire.

Person struck by car in parking lot on West Main Street, Batavia

A pedestrian has reportedly been struck by a vehicle at low speed in the parking lot of Enterprise Rent-a-Car on West Main Street, Batavia.

City fire and Mercy EMS are responding.

The patient is complaining of a hip injury. Mercy's ambulance is responding non-emergency.

UPDATE: The victim was taken to UMMC.

School bus backs into car on Oatka Trail, Le Roy, no injuries

A school bus reportedly backed in a vehicle, then left the scene at 7992 Oatka Trail in Le Roy. It's unknown whether the driver was aware of hitting the vehicle. There are no injuries. The school bus garage is awaiting the driver's return to get more information.

UPDATE: A police officer who responded to the scene said the struck vehicle was significantly damaged.

Car crashes into pole near Judge and Hutton roads, Oakfield

A car vs. pole accident is reported in the area of Judge and Hutton roads. Oakfield Fire Department is responding. Unknown injuries.

UPDATE 3:14 p.m.: There are no injuries, but help with traffic control will be needed.

UPDATE 3:39 p.m.: The Oakfield assignment is back in service. National Grid has an ETA of about 20 minutes to repair the pole.

Car accident with minor injury at Oak Orchard and Lockport roads, Elba

A two-car accident with minor injuries is reported at Oak Orchard and Lockport roads. It is not blocking traffic. Elba Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 11:42 a.m.: One person is complaining of back pain and another is declining medical treatment. Oak Orchard Road will be shut down at the intersection to accommodate responders.

Car crash on West Main Street in the city

A two-car accident with injuries is reported at 229 W. Main Street, in front of Ken Barrett's car dealership. It is blocking traffic. City fire is on scene along with police. Mercy medics are also responding.

Snowmobile accident in Darien was part of a drill

According to Darien Fire Chief Dale Breitwieser, an earlier post about a reported snowmobile accident in Darien was part of a drill involving the Darien and Corfu fire departments. 

The drill started a little before 7 p.m. and just finished up about 8:30 p.m.

Two-car accident with injuries in Pavilion

A two-car accident with injuries is reported on South Street Road between Dillon Road and York Road. The road is blocked.

One victim is complaining of a neck and collarbone injury. Pavilion fire is on scene and stablizing the patient. South Street Road is being closed down.

UPDATE 6:07 p.m.: Pavilion is back in service and the road is now open.

One-car rollover accident reported in Oakfield

A one-car rollover accident has been reported near 3238 Maltby Road in Oakfield.

Both occupants are out of the vehicle.

Medics are responding non-emergency.

Accident with injury in Pavilion

Pavilion Fire Department is responding to an accident with injury at 7750 Telephone Road. One car is reportedly off the road and one subject is complaining of a leg injury.

A Sheriff's deputy is also responding.

UPDATE 8:45 a.m.: Patient is now out of the vehicle according to Pavilion fire. The rest of the Pavilion assignment can stay in quarters. Mercy medic is also responding.

UPDATE 9 a.m.: The Pavilion assignment is back in service.

UPDATE 9:11 a.m.: Mercy medic is transporting one person to UMMC.

Route 77 at Route 20 is closed in Darien after accident causes power outage to stop lights

Route 77 at Route 20 is closed because a power outage caused by an accident has disabled the stop lights.

No one is injured, but there's no power in that area.

The vehicle apparently slid off the road and hit a meter box. National Grid has been notified.

UPDATE 3:54 p.m.: Darien fire says the meter box has power, but will have to be turned off so the DOT can fix the stop lights.

UPDATE 4:30 p.m.: Darien fire is back in service and law enforcement is at the intersection.

UPDATE 7:09 p.m.: Law enforcement on scene says the DOT may not be able to complete all the repairs to get the signal lights working again. They are requesting portable stop signs for the night.

Pavilion Fire Department responding to truck driver down in the middle of the road in Covington

The Pavilion Fire Department is responding to an incident on Peoria Road at Wallace Road in the Town of Covington where a truck driver was found down in the road.

The truck driver is unresponsive and an off-duty EMT from Perry was attempting to perform CPR, but the truck driver continues to be unresponsive.

It is unclear if the driver was run over by a vehicle backing out of a driveway or if he suffered a medical issue and collapsed.

Emergency responders have been to told to slow down and there is nothing they can do at this point.

State Police out of Warsaw are responding.

UPDATE 3:30 p.m.: According to the Wyoming County Sheriff Department, a passerby stopped to help a tractor-trailer driver at Big Tree Road and Wallace Road as he was not able to make the turn and became stuck at the intersection.

The passerby, while helping the truck driver, had a medical emergency and died at the scene.

Pavilion Fire Department went back into service at 3:10 p.m.

Truck driver lost control on icy road on Route 63 in Monday morning accident

A semi-truck driver hit an icy patch on Route 63 near Transit Road early Monday morning causing the truck to leave the roadway, strike a utility pole and overturn.

The driver, Benito A. Taveras Fernandez, 43, of North Bergen, was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital.

Taveras Fernandez was driving a 2004 Freightliner northbound at 3:42 a.m.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Matthew Fleming.

Car into the swamp in Alabama

The Alabama Fire Department is on scene at 5912 Knowlesville Road with a car partially submerged in the water.

The driver called 9-1-1 after the vehicle began to fill up with water after going off the road into the swamp.

Alabama fire units on scene say the victim has been extricated and other emergency personnel can come in non-emergency. The Shelby Fire Water Rescue unit will not be needed.
