Bob Will, of Leon, had one of the more interesting vehicles at the Steam Show in Alexander this weekend. He agreed to pose with his 1930s-era Ford pickup truck. Rusty gold, indeed.

Heavy rains yesterday made the grounds of the WNY Steam Show a muddy mess, cut attendance, had some vendors closing their booths and forced the cancellation of the tractor pulls, but fewer people just meant more steamed sweet corn for the rest of us.
There was also still plenty to see and admire among the tractors, antique engines and the vendor booths that were open.
The show continues today -- including tractor pulls.

I made two trips to the Alexander Steam Show this year, Friday night and Saturday afternoon. On Saturday, I intended just to stay for an hour to get a few photos to supplement what I snapped on Friday. I ended up staying more than two hours, which has put me behind on all my other projects and coverage. I took a lot of pictures. If you've never been to the steam show, put it on your calendar for next year. It's a great event that brings tens of thousands of people to Genesee County.

The annual Alexander Steam Show was another big hit this year, with people coming from all over the region for tractor pulls, a flea market, displays, antique farm equipment and -- above -- steamed sweet corn.
The corn was cooked using an old steam engine, dumped on a table and then people could dive in, grab as many ears as they could, butter it up and salt it.
Let's just say, it was good.
