Night Sky Tour and stargazing at GC Park & Forest

East Bethany – Enjoy the view of a dark night sky and get to know the summer’s constellations with Night Sky Tour and Stargazing at the Genesee County Park and Forest from 9 to 11 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9th.

Learn all about the Perseid meteor shower and other astronomical phenomenon and the folklore behind them!

Meet us at the Interpretive Nature Center for an outdoor presentation and guided tour of the night sky.

Open House to celebrate phase one of renovations at Justice for Children center

The Justice for Children Advocacy Center would like to cordially invite the community to attend an Open House at the Justice for Children Advocacy Center at 304 E. Main St., Batavia, from noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15th.

This Open House will celebrate the completion of phase one of the renovation of our Batavia location.

Did you know that every day in the United States, on average, 22 of our nation's veterans/soldiers take their own life? That number is more than 128,000.

That means that there have been more suicides since the 9/11 attacks, than there have been combined deaths in combat from the Korean War all the way through Operation Iraqi Freedom. This trend has to stop.

Ice cream social with your pooch at The Vintage Cow in Attica to benefit the GC Animal Shelter

Card making class at Richmond library features theme of summer reading program 'A Universe of Stories'

Join Jenn to make a set of four cards! Following our summer reading theme, “A Universe of Stories,” these cards will feature sayings like “Love you to the moon and back” and “enjoy the journey.”

Debut Overdose Awareness Day in Austin Park

As many of you may know, the family, loved ones, and allies of the GOW Opioid Task Force are hard at work planning the first-ever Overdose Awareness Day for the GOW community from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday Aug. 28th at Austin Park, Batavia.

This event will be a special time for the community to come together to raise awareness, share information, and support each other as a community. We will be having local area speakers, live music, FREE Narcan training, a kid’s zone, and food, and much more!

Crafts at Richmond library: Create your own Mosaic Garden Trowel, $10 fee, registration required

On Tuesday, July 23rd at 6:30 p.m. at the Richmond Memorial Library, 19 Ross St., Batavia, join us for a Mosaic Garden Trowel craft.

Krystyna will show you how to create your own mosaic garden trowel with a multitude of decorative pieces. There will be plenty ornamental items for you to choose from, but please feel free to bring your own baubles to make it more personal.

Reel Discussion at Richmond library: 'First Man' about NASA's mission in the '60s to put a man on the moon

On Thursday, July 25th, at 6 p.m., we will be showing the movie is “First Man” -- the riveting story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the years 1961-1969.

A visceral, first-person account, based on the book by James R. Hansen, the movie will explore the sacrifices and the cost — on Armstrong and on the nation — of one of the most dangerous missions in history.

49th annual GC 4-H Market Animal Meat Auction at the fairgrounds

The 49th Annual Genesee County 4-H Market Animal Auction will be held Thursday, July 18, at the Genesee County Fair.

The auction will feature chickens, goats, lambs, beef steers, dairy steers and hogs raised by local 4-H members.

Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. in the 4-H Kennedy Building and the auction begins at 7 p.m. in the Main Show Ring at the fairgrounds, located at 5056 E. Main Street Road, Batavia.

Reception for 'Declarations from the Heart' with poetry and graphic art from artists with disabilities

ARTiculations Ability Exhibition® -- a forum for artists with disabilities in Genesee, Wyoming and Orleans counties to display their work publicly -- will open at Independent Living of the Genesee Region (ILGR) in Batavia on July 12.

Titled "Declarations from the Heart," it features the poerty of Jacqueline Fields. Her poetry is being displayed with graphic art provided by the UHAA.
