Field fire off Sumner Road, Darien

A field fire is reported in the area of 550 Sumner Road, on the north side. Darien fire and EMS are responding. The location is between Harlow and County Line roads.

UPDATE 2:24 p.m.: Darien command requests Alexander to bring its Gator to the scene.

UPDATE 2:57 p.m.: Darien command reports the fire is out.

Dumpster fire outside of Clor's, now out

A dumpster fire was reported outside of Clor's Meat Market on West Main Street at the corner of Lewiston Road. A responder says there is no exposure to the building and the dumpster was smoldering, but no flames were showing. Town of Batavia Fire Department responded and the fire is knocked down.

Fire inside shop on Railroad Avenue, Alexander

A fire is reported 3505 Railroad Avenue. A bench inside the shop there was on fire. Alexander Fire Department is on scene and shortly after arriving declared the fire out, cancelled a mutual aid request for the Town of Batavia's ladder truck. Now the chief is calling for more manpower from his department. The location is between Sandpit and Buffalo roads.

UPDATE 1:23 p.m.: All Alexander units are returning to quarters, in service.

Possible grass fire behind house on Clinton Street Road, Byron

A possible brush / grass fire is reported behind a residence at 6902 Clinton Street Road. Byron and South Byron firefighters are responding.

UPDATE 1:22 p.m.: A responder in the area reports nothing showing.

UPDATE 1:40 p.m.: A nearby resident was burning something and it's extinguished.

Field fire moving toward house on Bloomingdale Road

A field fire is reported at 935 Bloomingdale Road on the Tonawanda Indian Reservation. The caller to dispatch says it's moving toward her house. The location is between Parker and Martin roads. Alabama Fire Department is responding along a tanker from Akron, mutual aid.

UPDATE 5:39 p.m.: Fire is out. Responders are back in service.

Fully involved garage fire reported on East Main Street, Corfu

A fully involved garage fire with exposures to other property is reported at 68 E. Main St. in Corfu. Mercy medics are responding along with Corfu Fire Department and mutual aid from Darien, East Pembroke, Pembroke and the city's Fast Team.

UPDATE 7:26 p.m.: Corfu Fire Police are shutting down traffic at routes 77 and 33.

UPDATE 7:36 p.m.: An engine from Indian Falls is requested to fill in at Corfu's hall.

UPDATE 7:55 p.m.: Indian Falls is told to return to its fire hall.

Report of a house fire on Edgewood Drive

A "house fire" is reported at 10 Edgewood Drive, a "new build," but a Town of Batavia chief is on scene reports "nothing showing."

City of Batavia fire and Town of Batavia fire dispatched.

UPDATE 8:57 p.m.: There is a propane heater burning inside.

UPDATE 9 p.m.: City fire and Town of Batavia are back in service.

Chimney fire on Brookville Road, Alexander

A chimney fire is reported at 10445 Brookville Road, Alexander. A responder confirms there is heavy black smoke spewing from the chimney area. Alexander fire is responding along with mutual aid from the Town of Batavia.

UPDATE 1:39 p.m.: The fire is out. Crews are picking up and preparing to leave.

Possible semi-truck fire reported on Thruway

Bluish smoke is coming from the back of a tractor that is in the westbound lane of the Thruway in the area of mile marker 393.

The trailer is hauling gasoline.

Town of Batavia fire dispatched.

UPDATE 7:36 a.m.: A chief is in the area. "Unfounded so far."

UPDATE 7:41 a.m.: The chief located the truck and spoke with the driver. The driver had checked it out. There was no heat nor fire, just a little smoke coming from the axle.

House-trailer fire on Broadway Road, east of Tinkham, in Darien

A house-trailer fire is occurring at 1765 Broadway Road, just east of Tinkham Road. Darien fire is on scene. The structure is next to a barn.

UPDATE 7:14 p.m.: Alexander is requested to respond, mutual aid, with a tanker to the scene.

UPDATE 7:32 p.m.: Darien command reports the fire is out; overhauling the structure now.

UPDATE 8 p.m.: Command calls for Wyoming County inmates to respond to help out as needed. It will take an hour or two to make that happen, according to dispatchers in contact with the prison officers.

UPDATE 8:36 p.m.: All Darien units are returning to service.

Smoke reported coming from barn on Brown Road

There is reported smoke coming from the barn at 2689 Brown Road, Corfu.

East Pembroke fire and one engine from Corfu dispatched.

Mercy EMS also dispatched.

UPDATE 12:49 a.m.: A responding chief warns of slick roads in route to the scene. More manpower requested to East Pembroke's hall.

UPDATE 12:51 a.m.: Working chimney fire in the barn. Heavy smoke showing. East Pembroke chief requests a second alarm.

UPDATE 12:58 a.m.: Pembroke dispatched to the scene. Town of Batavia to stand by in East Pembroke's hall.

UPDATE 1:04 a.m.: Town of Batavia tanker requested to the scene.

UPDATE 1:08 a.m.: Indian Falls is responding.

UPDATE 1:15 a.m.: Firefighters are having water supply issues. More tankers requested to the scene. Another pumper requested from Pembroke to set up a hydrant draw site. Fire now breaking through one of the walls.

UPDATE(S) by Billie 1:24 a.m.: The fire has broken through another side of the barn.

UPDATES 1:43 a.m.: Heavy smoke and flames are coming out of the east side of the barn. Alabama is requested to have an engine fill in at East Pembroke's hall.

UPDATE 1:52 a.m.: Initially, the property owner did try to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher, but realized the effort was futile and he got out of the barn safely.

UPDATE 2:12 a.m.: A lot of white smoke is still coming from the back of the barn, but no flames are showing at this point.

UPDATE 3:02 a.m.: National Grid is called to the scene to cut power to the barn and to find out why there's no power at the house. It's unclear if power is out at other properties in the immediate vicinity.

UPDATE 3:10 a.m. (by Howard): Fire is out.

Possible chimney fire on Alleghany Road

A possible chimney fire is reported at 6581 Alleghany Road. That's just south of Church Street, one the east side of the roadway. Alabama Fire Department is responding.

UPDATE 5:56 p.m.: Alabama is back in service.

Possible cooking fire on South Main Street

A resident is reporting light smoke on the first floor of a residence at 172 1/2 S. Main St. City fire is responding. Another resident says it may be cooking related.

Smoke and flames coming from basement on South Swan Street in the city

Smoke and flames are reportedly coming from the basement of a house at 229 S. Swan St. The residents have been advised to evacuate. City firefighters are responding.

UPDATE 5:13 a.m.: City fire on scene with nothing showing.

UPDATE 5:28 a.m.: A code enforcement officer is called in.

UPDATE 5:30 a.m.: Code enforcement ETA is 20 minutes.

Fire on Lincoln Avenue in the city

"A house fire," with the caller reporting it as a microwave problem, is at 9 Lincoln Ave., near Thomas Avenue. The occupants are out. Ladder 15 and Engine 11 are on scene.

UPDATE 8:17 p.m.: "The fire is out on the stove, checking for extensions."

UPDATE 8:20 p.m.: No extensions. Now ventilating.

UPDATE 8:58 p.m.: City assignment back in service. 

 

Stove fire on River Street in the city

A stove fire is reported in the kitchen at 97 River St. City fire is responding. The location is between Birchwood Drive and Pearl Street.

UPDATE 7:53 p.m.: Engine 11 is on scene. Dispatch says the caller is now reporting "that she got the fire out."

UPDATE 7:56 p.m.: They are ventilating the structure.

UPDATE 8:08 p.m.: The assignment is back in service.

Stove fire reported at residence in Alexander

A stove fire is reported at 9865 Route 98, Alexander.

Alexander fire is dispatched. Town of Batavia's ladder truck requested to the scene.

UPDATE 4:09 p.m.: Town of Batavia can go back in service. One responding Alexander engine can continue non-emergency and the other can stage in quarters.

UPDATE 4:23 p.m.: Alexander assignment back in service.

Car fire on Indian Falls Road

A vehicle is on fire at 8419 Indian Falls Road. East Pembroke Fire Department is responding.

UPDATE 1:56 p.m.: East Pembroke commands reports the fire is under control.

Brush fire reported off Transit Road, Byron

A brush fire is reported in the area of 6063 Transit Road, Byron.

Byron and South Byron were dispatched more than 10 minutes ago and are on scene.

A brush truck from Elba was just requested to the scene.

UPDATE 9:43 p.m.: Elba requested to fill in at Byron's hall.

UPDATE 9:54 p.m.: Mercy EMS requested to the scene. Unknown reason.

UPDATE 10:27 p.m.: Elba's tanker is back in service.

CORRECTION: It was the brush truck from Elba, not a Mercy ambulance requested to the scene.

Brittany Hodge sent his picture of the rekindle of this morning's fire at 1363 Broadway, Darien.

There have been a couple of rekindles today, but this one required both Darien fire and Corfu fire to be dispatched, along with a fill-in by Pembroke at Corfu's hall.

UPDATE 6:10 p.m.: Alexander fire has been dispatched to the rekindle.
