Fire in the bathroom of house on Bloomingdale Road

A fire is reported in the bathroom of a home on the Tonawanda Indian Reservation, located at 393 Bloomingdale Road. Alabama Fire Department is responding, along with mutual aid from Indian Falls.

UPDATE 12:39: The address was incorrect. It is 493 Bloomingdale Road, located off the roadway between Martin and Parker roads.

UPDATE 12:47 p.m.: The fire is out. An ambulance is requested to the scene for a victim of smoke inhalation.

UPDATE 12:53 p.m.: The chief says the fire was likely sparked by a faulty electrical outlet.

UPDATE 12:58 p.m.: The Alabama and Indian Falls units are back in service.

Oven fire becomes kitchen fire in the city

An oven fire has extended into the kitchen of an apartment at 86 1/2 S. Main St. in the City of Batavia. City crews are responding.

UPDATE 3:37 p.m.: They are opening the windows and venting the place. There is a lot of smoke but no flames.

UPDATE 3:39 p.m.: The fire is out.

Lightening strikes house, possibly causing fire

A house was struck by lightning and now there's the smell of smoke in the residence, located at 5024 Terry Hills Drive. The occupants have evacuated the premises.

Town of Batavia Fire Department is on scene and reports nothing is showing.

UPDATE 2:16 p.m.: The chief says there was definately a lightning strike and it has caused an electrical problem at the house. A thermal imaging camera is requested to check out the basement.

UPDATE 2:26 p.m.: National Grid has been notifeid with a 15 to 20 minute ETA for a rep to be on scene.

UPDATE 3:07 p.m.: Town of Batavia Fire back in service. Home owner advised by National Grid to contact an electrician.

Possible vehicle fire reported on the Thruway

A possible vehicle fire has been reported on the Thruway in the vicinity of mile marker 389.3 in the westbound lane.

Town of Batavia Fire Department dispatched.

The location is west of the Bank Street Road overpass.

UPDATE 9:58 a.m.: A chief reports, "we've got a good one going here." A lane will need to be closed. Additional manpower requested.

Motorcycle fire reported at Main and Jackson

A motorcycle is reportedly on fire on Main Street near Jackson Street, downtown Batavia.

City fire is dispatched.

The fire is reportedly right in front of The Mane Attraction Salon & Spa.

UPDATE 12:24 a.m.: Fire is out.

Smoke seen coming from roof of residence in Alexander

There is reportedly smoke coming from the roof of a residence on Route 20 in Alexander.

There is the smell of smoke in the house.

The residence is being evacuated.

Alexander Fire Department and Town of Batavia's ladder truck being dispatched.

The location is 3076 Broadway Road, Alexander.

UPDATE 6:01 p.m.: The smoke appears NOT to be coming from the residence, but another location. Alexander units being held in quarters and Town of Batavia can return to its hall.

Possible fuel fire reported at Kwik Fill in Le Roy

A possible fuel fire has been reported at the Kwik Fill, 7010 W. Main Road, Le Roy.

The spill and fire was reported by a neighbor who said the fire may have been put out using a fire extinguisher.

Le Roy Fire Department is responding.

UPDATE 8:55 p.m.: First chief on scene reports no fire showing. Trucks can respond non-emergency.

UPDATE 8:56 p.m.: First engine on scene. A chief reports, "It was just a minor cleaning issue. No issues at this time."

Car fire reported on the Thruway

We didn't catch all the details on this, but Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments are working a car fire on the Thruway.

The initial call came in as a car smoking.  We don't have the mile marker.

Local fire companies dispatched to Orleans County for house fire

Fire units from Oakfield, Elba and Batavia are being sent to Orleans County for a mutual aid fire call.

There is a house fire at  5717 Burns Road, Barre.

A pumper and tanker from Oakfield are at the scene, Elba requested to fill in at Barre's fire hall and Batavia's Fast Team requested to the scene.

UPDATE 9:47 a.m.: Alabama pumper requested to fill in at the East Shelby fire hall.

Fire behind stove at East Pembroke archery club

A fire behind a stove is reported at the Sportsman's Coonhunters Association, an archery club, located at 8776 Hopkins Road in East Pembroke. The flames are out but firefighters are called to check for extensions into the walls.

East Pembroke and Town of Batavia fire departments are responding. A firefighter on scene says extensions are unlikely. An infrared camera is requested to be sure.

Porch carpet catches fire in Pavilion

A front porch carpet fire, believed to be out at this time, is reported at 11133 Saint Mary's St. in Pavilion. A person there suffered burns to the legs trying to put out the blaze. Pavilion Fire Department and Mercy EMS responded. They are checking the site with an infrared camera to ensure the blaze is out.

The victim is reportedly a 14-year-old who was playing with matches. A Sheriff's deputy is requested to the scene because of concerns of child endangerment.

UPDATE 8:10 p.m.: Those at the scene ask the deputy to "step it up."

UPDATE 8:26 p.m.: Mercy medics are en route to Strong Memorial Hospital with the burn victim. The Sheriff's deputy is back in service.

UPDATE 8:33 p.m.: Pavilion fire is back in service.

Fire reported in basement on Ellicott Street, Batavia

Smoke is reportedly coming from the basement of a house at 312 Eillicott St. in Batavia. City firefighters are en route. The landlord says the smoke is coming out of the cinder blocks.

UPDATE 1:51 p.m.: Fire command reports the smoke is coming from a crawl space and they have limited access to it. They are going to get at it through a breach they made in the wall.

UPDATE 2:15 p.m.: City fire has cleared the scene.

Possible structure fire reported on Lockport Road, Oakfield

A fire in a bedroom at 3561 Lockport Road, Oakfield, was knocked down quickly, shortly after tones went out for several fire departments to respond.

A chief on scene confirms the fire is knocked down.

Initially dispatched were all Oakfield units along with tankers and engines from Alabama, Elba and Batavia.

All Oakfield units can now proceed non-emergency and all other units are put back in service.

UPDATE 12:44 p.m.: All Oakfield units back in service.

Smell of smoke reported at Darien Lakes Campsite

The smell of smoke is reported at campsite #971 at Darien Lake Theme Park. No flames are showing, but they'd still like an officer to check it out. They have shut off electricity to the site.

Darien Fire Department is responding.

City Fire dispatched to 100 Pearl St. for smoke coming from a wall

A caller reports smoke coming from a wall at 100 Pearl St., Batavia, Paris Repairs.

City Fire Department is responding.

The first unit on scene reports nothing showing.

UPDATE 3:33 p.m.: A firefighter on the roof reports nothing showing. The breaker has been shut off and the smoked stopped. "It appears to be an electrical problem," says a captain.

UPDATE 4:11 p.m.: City fire back in service.

Vehicle fire reported on Lockport Road, Oakfield

A vehicle is reportedly on fire in the area 3271 Lockport Road, Oakfield.

The vehicle is said to be next to a barn.

Oakfield Fire Department dispatched.

A chief is in the area and says smoke is showing.

Elba fire is being put on standby in their hall.

UPDATE 7:18 a.m.: Fire under control.

UPDATE 7:24 a.m.: Fire is out. Elba put back in service with Oakfield's thanks.

UPDATE 8:26 a.m.: Oakfield back in service.

Dumpster fire reported in Le Roy

A Dumpster fire has been reported at the gas station at 100 W. Main St., Le Roy.

Le Roy Fire Department responding.

A Le Roy police officer on scene says it's a small fire that has been smoldering for awhile. "It will probably take about 10 gallons of water or less to put it out."

Electrical outlet sparking and smoking on Maple Street in the city

An electrical outlet is reportedly sparking and smoking at 10 Maple St., upper apartment (C), in the City of Batavia. The building has been evacuated. City firefighters are on scene.

UPDATE 9:33 p.m.: All units are clear. The problem, apparently, was overheated circuits. They were shut off. The landlord is aware of the situation.

Deputy stranded on Sumner Road in Darien

A Sheriff's Deputy is stuck on Sumner Road in Darien after his patrol car had mechanical problems and caught fire. He's fine. A tow truck is responding and another deputy is sent to pick up the stranded motorist.
