HLOM's Guest Speaker Series - Lorna Czarnota

We are welcoming Lorna Czarnota back to the Holland Land Office! If you missed her last year make sure you make this one on your calendar. She will be discussing her book Wicked Niagara. Its sure to be an interesting side of the Niagara Frontier filled with fun discussions. Cost is $3 per person or $2 per museum member.

HOLM'S Guest Speaker Series - Derrick Maxfield

Derrick Maxfield will be visiting the museum on Thursday Aug. 20th at 7 p.m. to talk about "Hellmira." The Elmira, NY fort that would come to be known as “Hellmira” among its prisoners began as a Union training post called Camp Rathbun. The fort was turned into a prison camp in 1864 with almost no notice. That was just the beginning...

HLOM Guest Speaker - Michael L. Hawley talks about his book on Dr. Frances Tumblety, an American suspect in the Jack the Ripper murders

Hawley as he talks about Dr. Frances Tumbelty who was known mostly for being a Jack the Ripper suspect, lived for a brief period with family in Rochester and is buried in a family plot in Rochester, NY. Free Spaghetti Dinner: Pasta for Peace

The second “Pasta for Peace” free spaghetti dinner, will be held on Thursday, Nov. 17, at 6:30 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, 300 East Main St., in Batavia.  Local author and peace advocate Jim Morasco will be the featured speaker.  90 people attended the first Pasta for Peace in September.
