Lewiston road in Alabama will be closed starting June 5

The Genesee County Highway Department would like to inform the public about an upcoming road closure on Lewiston Road between Route 77 and Knowlesville Road in Alabama. Beginning Monday, June 5, the road will be closed to all traffic for approximately three weeks to facilitate a culvert replacement project.

The culvert replacement project is an essential infrastructure improvement aimed at enhancing the safety and functionality of Lewiston Rd. The existing culvert will be replaced with a new culvert pipe to improve water flow under Lewiston Rd and ensure the long-term sustainability of the roadway.

A portion of Richmond Avenue to be closed this week

To all motorists, a portion of Richmond Avenue in the City of Batavia will be closed two days this week for road construction between Redfield Parkway and Park Road. The closure will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and is to be re-opened after those time periods each night.

Motorists looking to access Park Road are asked to approach from the North at the intersection of Park Road and Veteran’s Memorial Drive.

Portion of North Road in Le Roy closed for three days next week for water main installation

Please be advised that North Road in the Town of Le Roy will be closed to traffic between Route 19 and Conlon Road on Monday (Jan. 13), Tuesday (Jan. 14) and Wednesday (Jan. 15) for the installation of a water transmission main line across the roadway.

The roadway will be COMPLETELY CLOSED TO ALL TRAFFIC -- including emergency vehicles. A detour will be posted during this time.

Closed portion of Bloomingdale Road in Alabama reopened today

This afternoon the Genesee County Highway Department announced that Bloomingdale Road in the Town of Alabama was reopened to all traffic this morning.

On Nov. 1, the department announced that Bloomingdale Road between Wright Road and Tesnow Road in the Town of Alabama would be closed through approximately Dec. 6.

Bloomingdale Road between Wright Road and Tensow Road in the Town of Alabama will be closed effective today (Nov. 1) through approximately Dec. 6.

The road will NOT be passable for regular traffic or emergency vehicles.

The public will be notified when the road reopens.

Portion of Bank Street, Batavia, to close Tuesday through Sept. 20 for sidewalk installation

Bank Street Road Closure -- (Washington Avenue to North Street)

On Tuesday, Sept. 10, through Friday, Sept. 20, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., Bank Street between Washington Avenue to North Street in the City of Batavia will be closed to all through traffic. The closure is for construction activities associated sidewalk installation.

All motorists who regularly use Bank Street (between Washington Avenue to North Street) are asked to seek alternative routes while the closure is in place.

Emergency response and residents of this portion of Bank Street will be permitted within the closure for ingress and egress to properties. Caution is advised.

Additionally a temporary change to the parking restrictions will be made to this area of Bank Street (between Washington Avenue to North Street) to accommodate construction.

There will be “NO PARKING” on the Eastside. “PARKING” will be permitted on the Westside for the duration of the construction project.

One lane to close on Creek Road at Cook Road in Bethany for bridge painting

Effective, July 29, there will be a single lane closure on Creek Road at the intersection of Cook Road in Bethany for painting the bridge over the Little Tonawanda Creek.

There will be a temporary traffic light at the intersection.

The closure will last approximately two weeks.

We will notify the public when the road reopens.

Tracy Avenue storm sewer repair work set for tomorrow in the city, road will be closed

From 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2nd, Tracy Avenue in the City of Batavia will be closed to all through traffic for storm sewer repair. The work will be performed between North Street and Hart Street.

All motorists that regularly use this road are asked to seek alternative routes during the operation.

Residents within the area of the closure should anticipate delays, but we will do our best to accommodate getting you to and from your residence.

This work is weather dependent and subject to rescheduling if it rains.

Portion of Ellicott Avenue to close Monday from 4 to 10 p.m. for National Grid work

Press release from the city's Bureau of Maintenance:

On Monday, March 11, between the hours of 4 and 10 p.m. Ellicott Avenue (between West Main Street and Mix Place) will be closed. National Grid will be replacing infrastructure so the road will be closed to all through traffic.

Residents of Ellicott Avenue are asked to access Ellicott Avenue during this work from either Mix Place, Washington Avenue, Park Avenue or Richmond Avenue. Residents of Ellicott Avenue south of Mix Place will be permitted to access their property by entering/ exiting from the north side of Ellicott Avenue.

National Grid anticipates three properties to experience an outage and they have already been notified. This work is weather dependent.

Highland Park and Wood Street in the city to close Tuesday and Wednesday for repairs

There will be road closure on Highland Park and Wood Street between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 17th and 18th, for cold milling operations.

Residents and businesses are not to park on the roadway during cold milling operations.

Residents and businesses of these streets will have limited access to their properties and should expect delays when milling operations are ongoing. If work is postponed by weather work will be rescheduled for the next calendar day.

Part of Liberty Street to close for two weeks to replace railroad crossing

Genesee Valley Transportation (GVT) Rail Systems is replacing the at-grade railroad crossing on Liberty Street. In order to complete this work it will be necessary for GVT to close Liberty Street between School Street and Ellicott Street. The road closure is scheduled to begin on Monday, Aug. 24, and run through Friday, Sept. 4.

This closure impacts all traffic including emergency equipment.

Portions of South Main and River streets to close Monday for paving

The intersection at South Main Street and River Street will be closed between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday, July 27, for paving operations.

River Street will be closed from Pearl Street (Route 33) to West Main Street (Route 5).

South Main Street will be closed at Dewey Avenue and Meadowcrest Drive.

Residents and businesses are asked not to park on the roadway during paving operations.

Roadways will be closed during paving operations. If work is postponed by weather, work will be rescheduled for the next business day.

Reminder: North Street repairs get under way Monday

On Monday, July 20, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. North Street from Ross Street to Naramore Drive will experience traffic delays. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane for cold milling operations. Then on Wednesday, July 22, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., the same area can expect traffic delays because of paving operations.

The following streets that intersect with North Street will see temporary traffic closures preventing access to North Street while cold milling and paving operations are ongoing:

  • Manhatten Avenue
  • Columbia Avenue
  • Vine Street
  • Trumbull Parkway
  • North Spruce Street
  • Allenview Drive
  • Naramore Drive

Residents and businesses are not to park on the roadway during cold milling and paving operations.

Residents and businesses of North Street, from Ross Street to Naramore Drive, will have access to their properties, but should expect delays when cold milling and paving operations are in front of their properties. If work is postponed by weather, work will be rescheduled for the next calendar day.

All other traffic is asked to avoid this area and seek alternate routes. Thank you for your cooperation.

Holland Avenue to close Tuesday for repairs

Part of Bank Street in the city will be closed Tuesday for water main repair

A water main repair is scheduled for Tuesday June 3 on Bank Street in the City of Batavia. This work will require Bank Street to be closed to traffic from Chandler Avenue to Ross Street until the repair is completed. The road will be closed at approximately 8:30 a.m.

The repair may cause temporary discolored water in the area or low pressure. Please check to make sure that water clarity has returned before doing any laundry or other activities which could be adversely affected.

Townline Road closed parts of this week

Townline Rd (CR 26) between Rt 63 and Pekin Rd in the Towns of Batavia, Oakfield and Elba will be closed Tuesday, June 2nd to Thursday, June 4th from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day for culvert replacements.
