All motorists please be aware that Bank Street, Chandler Avenue and Ross Street will experience traffic delays on Tuesday, August 30th and Wednesday, August 31stfrom 7AM to 3PM for a resurfacing operation. 

While work is being performed in this area, local traffic will be permitted to and from their residence/property but should plan accordingly for delays.

All residents/businesses within the work area are asked not to park on the roadway during the operation.

This is weather dependent work; if work is postponed it shall progress the next workday.

Next Wednesday Center Street parking lot downtown to close for milling, then repairs and resurfacing

To Merchants and Businesses:

On July 28, the Center Street Parking Lot will be closed for milling operations. After the milling operations are completed city crews will begin pavement repairs and resurfacing over the next few weeks.

The parking will remain open, but sections will be coned off for pavement repairs and resurfacing. This work will be performed during the business day ( 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and operations are weather dependent.

Water main work resumes on North Road, Le Roy, tomorrow

Water main work will be resuming on North Road between Conlon Road and Route 19, Town of Le Roy.

The road will be open to traffic, but there will be lane closures and temporary delays starting tomorrow, Oct. 28, at 7:30 a.m. through 5 p.m. each day for the remainder of the week.

City road closures announced for Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 16-17

On Monday, Sept. 16, temporary road closures will occur between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. These road closures are for the roadway resurfacing of the following streets. (The duration of each closure will be approximately four hours before traffic can ride on the treatment):

  • Florence Avenue -- between Cedar Street and Howard Street. Carolwood Drive – between Garden Drive and end of road.
  • Belvedere Lane – Naramore Drive to Naramore Drive. Woodcrest Drive – Between house #2 and #15.

On Tuesday, Sept. 17, a temporary road closure shall occur on:

  • Union Street – between Richmond Avenue and Oak Street. This impacts residents that live on Union Square limiting access.

Also on Tuesday, any work not completed on listed streets from Monday will be completed. Working hours will be between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Resident’s will be notified by the company doing the work -- Suit Kote -- of the actual work schedule via fliers delivered door to door on the impacted streets a day in advance.

Residents of impacted areas are asked not to park on these streets while the work is ongoing and to park on adjacent side streets if possible.

This work is weather dependent and if delayed due to wet conditions the work will resume the next business day.

Veterans Memorial Drive paving planned Sept. 10-12; one lane of travel each direction those days

Travel Advisory: Sept. 10-12 -- Road Work

Veterans Memorial Drive in the Town of Batavia between Lewiston Road (Route 63) and Park Road/Veterans Memorial Drive intersection will be reduced to one travel lane in each direction from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. those days to allow for paving of the roadway. Expect delays during these times.

County Highway Department announces road work

The county Highway Department announced that the Sumner Road bridge over Elevenmile Creek in Darien is now restricted to alternating one-way traffic with a temporary signal. The change took effect yesterday. This bridge is between Route 77 and Harlow Road.

The public will be notified when the road reopens to both lanes of traffic.

The Highway Department also announced that the Caswell Road Bridge between Walkers Corners Road and Cockram Road in Byron will be closed effective Thursday, Aug. 22nd through Oct. 4th.

Town of Batavia issues travel advisory due to work on Ellicott Trail Project

NYS Route 5 between 665 E. Main St. and 5022 E. Main Street Road in the Town of Batavia will be reduced to one lane of traffic in the westbound direction to allow for the construction of a center pedestrian refuge island as part of the Ellicott Trail Project.

Tracy Avenue storm sewer repair work set for tomorrow in the city, road will be closed

From the city Bureau of Maintenance:

From 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2nd, Tracy Avenue in the City of Batavia will be closed to all through traffic for storm sewer repair. The work will be performed between North Street and Hart Street.

All motorists that regularly use this road are asked to seek alternative routes during the operation.

Residents within the area of the closure should anticipate delays, but we will do our best to accommodate getting you to and from your residence.

This work is weather dependent and subject to rescheduling if it rains.

Road work begins Wednesday on Clinton Street, expect delays until Oct. 26

Travel advisory in the City of Batavia for Oct. 17-26

Clinton Street/ Route 33 – Between East Main Street and the City line (north), will undergo road work to include the milling of the road surface, pavement repairs, traffic signal loops, pavement markings and signage over the next week to two weeks.

Traffic delays are to be expected -- plan accordingly.

Traffic will be controlled around operations using flaggers. All motorists should expect delays. 

All thru traffic should seek out alternate routing.

Pringle Avenue will be closed Tuesday for paving

Pringle Avenue will be closed on Tuesday, July 12, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. for paving operations. Residents and businesses are not to park on the roadway during paving operations. Please park on neighboring side streets until work is completed.

This street will be closed to all through traffic. Residents and businesses of this street will have limited access to their properties and should expect delays when paving operations are ongoing. If work is postponed by weather, work will be rescheduled for the next calendar work day.

All other traffic is asked to avoid this area and seek alternative routes.

City's Washington Avenue sewer project moving along

The Washington Avenue sewer project will be moving operations beginning next week. The area between Bank Street and Ross Street has been installed and the contractor will be mobilizing to Jefferson Avenue next week.

Work will then progress north on Jefferson Avenue and easterly on Washington Avenue toward Bank Street.

Traffic will be restricted/closed at the north end of Jefferson Avenue and, eventually, on Washington Avenue between Jefferson Avenue and State Street. Motorists are advised to use other routes. 

Milling operations to take place Thursday and Friday on Cherry, Pringle and Central in the city

Cherry Street, Pringle Avenue and Central Avenue will be closed between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, June 23 and 24, for milling operations. The work will begin on Cherry Street first.

Residents and businesses are not to park on the roadway during milling operations.

These streets will be closed to through traffic. Residents and businesses of these streets will have limited access to their properties and should expect delays when paving operations are ongoing. All other traffic is asked to avoid this area and seek alternative routes.

South Main Street milling and paving begins next week in the city

Please be aware that all motorists using South Main Street within the City of Batavia from Oak Street Extension west to the City Line will experience travel delays and road closures between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Monday, June 20 and Tuesday, June 21.

Roadwork involving the milling of the pavement will begin on the east end and progress west. Areas of work will be closed to all through traffic. Local traffic will be permitted to and from their residence/ property but should plan accordingly for delays.

All residents within the work area are asked not to park on the roadway during the day.

Once milling is complete, the roadway will be prepared for paving and then final paved. An additional media release will be issued with specific dates and times for this work.

Expect traffic delays later this month on North Street due to city road work

On Monday, July 20, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. North Street from Ross Street to Naramore Drive will experience traffic delays. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane for cold milling operations. Then on Wednesday, July 22, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., the same area can expect traffic delays because of paving operations.

The following streets that intersect with North Street will see temporary traffic closures preventing access to North Street while cold milling and paving operations are ongoing:

  • Manhatten Avenue
  • Columbia Avenue
  • Vine Street
  • Trumbull Parkway
  • North Spruce Street
  • Allenview Drive
  • Naramore Drive

Residents and businesses are not to park on the roadway during cold milling and paving operations.

Residents and businesses of North Street, from Ross Street to Naramore Drive, will have access to their properties, but should expect delays when cold milling and paving operations are in front of their properties. If work is postponed by weather, work will be rescheduled for the next calendar day.

Portion of mall parking lot will be closed next week for milling and paving

On Monday, Sept. 15, city maintenance workers will be milling a portion of the mall parking lot, weather permitting, between Dan's Tire and Auto and Genesee-Lawley Insurance. That's from Alva Place to the main driving lane. The area will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 16 and 17, weather permitting, a city crew will pave this area and the parking lot will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sewer repairs scheduled tomorrow at Franklin and Davis in the city

Tomorrow, Aug. 26, the city Bureau of Maintenance will be doing a sewer repair at Frankin Street  and Davis Avenue, just east of Williams Park. Motorists can expect traffic to be reduced to a single lane at times.
