Groundbreaking ceremony for GCC’s new Student Success Center & Event Center

The official Groundbreaking Ceremony at GCC for the new Student Success Center and the Event Center will take place at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 28. College and community leaders will gather to recognize the start of construction for these two new facilities, collectively valued at more than $21 million and totaling 75,000 square feet. In addition, the program includes the opportunity to officially kickoff GCC’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, paying homage to the community leaders 50 years ago whose vision gave rise to Genesee Community College’s long term success.

Regional Transit Service holds info session at County Building #2

To meet the evolving transit needs of customers in Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, and Wyoming counties, RTS has launched a Regional Service Efficiency Study. The purpose of the study is to identify service improvements and connections across the seven counties, and a key component of that study involves input from customers in those areas.

Assemblyman Steve Hawley holds office hours at GCC

Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R,C,I-Batavia) is holding January office hours for Genesee county residents starting next week. The office hours will be attended by Hawley’s staff. The 139thAssembly District, represented by Hawley, includes portions of western Monroe County and all of Genesee County. “These office hours offer local residents an opportunity to share their thoughts, concerns and ideas regarding the issues facing state government,” said Hawley.

Annual general membership meeting of the Landmark Society of Genesee County

The Annual Meeting of the General Membership will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday November 4, 2015 at the GO-ART facility in Batavia. During the business portion of the meeting we will vote in new board members. We will be taking nominations from the floor in addition to the nominations proposed. Bernard Schmieder will host the screening of the second architectural styles documentary the Landmark Society produced under his presidency. This short film is about Greek Revival architectural style in Genesee County. We hope you can join us.

WNY Independent Living host Batavia forum for the disabled to meet and question local candidates in the November election

Batavia is one of three locations where a “Meet the Candidates” event will enable Western New Yorkers with disabilities, or anyone from the community, to hear and discuss issues with some on the ballot in the November General Election. The gatherings will host those running for County and major city offices. Le Roy & Bergen ABC Public Stakeholders Session

Public stakeholder session. Camoin Associates will facilitate a public session to present proposed goals, strategies, projects and initiatives as part of the development of the joint Community Revitalization Plan for Le Roy and Bergen. This session is intended to be participatory. Feedback gained from the meeting will be reviewed with the Genesee Gateway Local Development Corporation and key stakeholders from the towns and villages for incorporation into the plan. The community has raised $15,000 to match the ABC — America’s Best Communities — project grant from American Express.

Green Genesee Smart Genesee presents Open House

Green Genesee Smart Genesee (GGSG) will present an Open House taking place at the Genesee County Office for the Aging, Senior Center on Oct. 6 beginning at 4:30 p.m. and featuring refreshments, kids activities and informational handouts. The purpose of GGSG is to create tools and provide resources that help guide land and energy use in Genesee County.
