Go Art should be an entirely different entity from this parade and sponsors. As a former board member, our venue was art in the GLOW region. This in inappropriate .

According to the GO Art website....

OUR MISSION
The Genesee-Orleans Regional Arts Council is dedicated to developing the cultural life in Genesee & Orleans Counties by facilitating the creation, presentation and experience of the arts, heritage and traditions.

Culture is defined by webster's as: the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group
also : the characteristic features of everyday existence (such as diversions or a way of life) shared by people in a place or time.

This is no different than GO Art hosting picnic in the park. The 4th of July celebration is also another cultural event. Or the Day of the Dead event in Orleans county, same thing.

Read your first paragraph. "Arts, heritage and traditions". Where does sexuality fit into those? In case you are wondering, I have gay family members and friends. I would be against a heterosexual parade also. The 4th of July picnic cannot be equated with a parade promoting sexuality. Give me a break.

Dear Cadance,

Let me explain this a different way. The pride parade is not held for gay people. The Pride parade is held because people that hate, have prejudices or fears of other people that causes them to marginalize a large group and oppress them. You know.... the 4th of July is celebrated because of rebellion of oppression.

I disagree with you comparing a Gay Pride parade to the AMERICAN. Revolution . Why aren't we having a parade for David Bellavia, a true AMERICAN hero
