A man is driving himself to the hospital after reportedly being bit in the face by a pit bull at 234 Ellicott St. Police are responding to the scene to investigate.
Ok so i just read this story and it makes the pitbull hysteria sound true. I just wanna say to eveyone please dont make this story let you believe that every pit bull is mean. I have two amazing well behaved pit bulls myself. That dog may not of even been a pitbull. It may of just looked like one or been a mixed. In the news they always say its a pit bull when in fact its not and just looks like one. Or sometimes it is actually one. Im not saying it was or wasn't im just saying that not every dog is the same. So please dont blame the entire breed. If you see one and it looks happy and smiling Then most likely it is happy and has a good home with owners who socialize it well. The story doesnt state what the reason the attack was for, so maybe he was protecting his house or owners etc. Just a thought. So please when you read this story dont blame the entire breed.
Never had an issue until a pit bull attacked Pachuco about a month after we adopted him. It was a totally unprovoked attack. It so freaked out the owner of the pit bull that he put his dog down a few days later.
Pit bulls were bred for one purpose -- to attack other dogs.
I don't trust them. I avoid them, especially when I have Pachuco with me. (I think Pachuco is especially vulnerable to aggressive dogs because he's totally passive. I think the reason he got attacked is the pit bull sensed nervousness or fear.)
You are correct that we don't know for certain -- and disappointingly there's been no PD press release on this incident -- if it was a pit bull, how serious the attack was (can't be too serious if the guy drove himself to the hospital) or what provoked it, if anything. The mention of pit bull is almost incidental to the post (just the fact that a guy got bit in the face by a dog and drove himself to the hospital is interesting).
But Pachuco reminds me, you can still submit your pits to the Pet of the Week contest. He holds no ill-will toward any creature. He wants to be friends with everybody. He'll happily consider them if they're loving and loyal to you.
yes pit bulls were pred to attack other dogs, not humans. Im sorry to hear your poor dog was attacked by a pit bull. I dont know what id do if one of my babies were attacked by another dog. Alot of pit bulls dont like other dogs but some do. One of mine doesnt care for dogs his size or bigger. I think he feels intimidated. The other one will play with anything from a boston terrier to a husky. I can see why you avoid them ecspecially when you have your dog with you. Id do the same thing. I was just trying to state that not every pitbull is the same. Some like all other animals and humans, some just like humans and not other animals, some like animals and not humans. Its all in the way they were pred and raised.
P.s The part about him driving himself to the hospial is interesting, and your right he must of not been that bad.
