Saturday night we were going past the Batavia cemetery.I think there was a ghostwalk.We went and looked in the mausoleum.It is rarely ever open.Its pretty creepy in there.

It was so beautiful inside,
It was so beautiful inside, there is amazing marble and carving work towards the ceiling. In the top vaults are young children lost to disease and other causes.
The cemetery walk on Saturday night was awesome, too!

Peter and Chelsea I'm glad to hear that you came and that you enjoyed it. The walk gives some very interesting stories from early Batavia. This was my first year as a volunteer, I enjoyed it. I plan on doing it again next year.

There's a winery in Appleton
There's a winery in Appleton in Niagara County, Marjim Manor that claims to have the rock in its rock garden that was tied to William Morgan before he was supposedly thrown into the Niagara River. It is also claimed that his ghost walks the grounds. They have a party on Halloween and it's only about 45 minutes away.

We (Peter and I) invited another couple, and we had a great time. We ordered pizza and wings beforehand, walked to the cemetery walk, and then played games into the night. It was great to know some history and meet some new people.

During the walk there were bones and skulls and other fun halloweeny things, so I think they're just for effect. Everyone in the Mausoleum were related to the Richmond family.
The Ghosthunters t.v. show
The Ghosthunters t.v. show did an investigation at Marjim Manor. If you go to an event there, ask the owner about it, and she will tell you of some other things that happened, but didn't make it on the air because of editing and time limits. The history of the place is very interesting.

Mark, Fifty-six years after
Mark,
Fifty-six years after Morgan’s disappearance, The National Christian Association erected and dedicated a monument to Morgan’s memory. The monument is located in the southwest corner of the Batavia Cemetery. It is inscribed that more than 2000 people from 26 states and Canada contributed to the building of the monument. Local lore states that the monument was guarded by Batavia Masons who feared that any damage to the statue would blamed on them.
