JUST PLANTS ARE NOT ENOUGH FOR THE ROUNDABOUT,IN WINTER THEY ARE GONE.WE HAVE SOMETHING GOOD IN BATAVIA SO MAKE THE MOST OF IT,A STATUE OR SOMETHING SIMILAR WOULD WORK,THINK!

No plants, they can't thrive with all the salt that gets dumped on them from the plows. No statue, it is just something more to confuse drivers who already can't get used to a roundabout. A statue also gives reason for people to enter the roundabout on foot to get a closer look or read a plaque, not a good idea. Just a simple Oak tree. There must be a reason it was named Oak Street in the first place.

The DOT is the deciding factor. As noted in a prior comment, the hub is designed so emergency vehicles can drive across it. If that's the case, no tree or statue will grace the traffic circle.

Calliope, yes; but not at Oak Street. The calliope needs to be atop the mall. The tune is "Where Oh Where Did My Little Dog Go," The lyrics modified: "Where Oh Where Did My Main Street Go?"

Anything that is tall is going to cause a visibility issue for traffic, and just cause more accidents is a very bad idea. Low plants are probably a better idea...or just plain grass...cheaper.

Grass would be best, If you put a statute, monument or even plants there then you will have to hire peeps to take care of it like they do with all the hanging plants in Batavia now... opps I forgot about mowing oh well heck with it an put some pretty white gravel there or stick a garbage can in the middle of it because I'm sure some people will need to get rid of the Mcdonalds and/or Arbys food wrappers or happy meals as there going throw !!!
