Batavia Police are looking for a blue color SUV that lost its wheel well and has damage to its right front bumper after striking sign posts in the roundabout and driving off.
The car was last seen heading south on Walnut Street.
UPDATE: Sign posts weren't struck down -- light poles were -- three of them coming off of Pearl Street into the roundabout. It looks like the driver never even entered the roundabout, but drove through the median coming off of Pearl and onto the parkway, then off onto Walnut. One of the light poles was dragged a good 80 feet.
SUV DRIVERS THINK THEY OWN
SUV DRIVERS THINK THEY OWN THE ROAD!
Are you kidding me, Im
Are you kidding me, Im surpised this hasn't happened sooner. Whoever thought of this design wasn't really thinking. I've seen semi- trucks go right over the bricks because there is not enough room to turn. If your out of town, you wouldn't have a clue which way to go, where to turn or when to stop. The next time we have one of these brain storms, let's really think about it.
Deborah, I couldn't disagree
Deborah,
I couldn't disagree more. Circles are used all over the counrty in busier areas than this. As far as designs go, the circle is clearly laid out. I think this incident has more to do with an inability to drive than the road it was on.
Wasn't "Mary go
Wasn't "Mary go round"
Probably someone from Texas
I'm going to try to follow up
I'm going to try to follow up on this today, but if you notice -- the driver never even made it into the roundabout, so it's kind of hard to blame it.
Personally, I find the roundabout a VAST improvement over the old intersection. It's much, much easier and safer to get through.
I'm really surprised it took
I'm really surprised it took this long for something like that to happen at the "roundabout"......
Just like our wonderful "S" curve near Tim Hortons and Wendy's....that was a brilliant design too :)
I checked with PD. No
