My buddys and I have a "Men's-A-Club" TM. All club members have to do is drop by and drink my beer with me. We all tell each other how smart we are and have a fine time patting one another on the back and clinking glasses. Kinda like the VFW without a war.
There are rules for riding "shotgun" the first one to call "Shotgun" or "Shotty" is the one who is to rides shotgun. Now there must have been at least three people present for the parties to fight, that is when the driver comes into play and must confirm who called it first......duh. LOL (trust me, I have been the mother of a teenage boy, I've lived it over and over and over and over....)
I agree Laura, it seems that there is liitle question that the driver is to blame. If the driver fails to declare the winner, that's when all hell can break loose.
Next thing we know, there will be legislation introduced to amend the vehicle code -- if a driver fails to declare a "shotgun" winner, the driver can be cited and fined.
When calling shotgun, all riders of the car must be outside, and shotgun can only be called when the car is in view. Riders in the car are not allowed to run to shotgun and steal it before the person who called and deserves it arrives there. The driver of the car has no authority to decide on who gets shotgun. If a legitimate confrontation comes up where the rightful owner of the shotgun can not be determined then it will be decided by one round of paper rock scissors (with no shoot). If the two contenders tie 5 times in a row then the rightful owner of the shotgun is to be decided by a UFC cage match in which the first blood drawn decides the rightful owner of shotgun
