Since he is already convicted and in jail, I hope he did it because I'm not at all sure he did. Damn, I'm glad my retirement didn't hang by a thread. It's like: "Under my thumb for twenty five years and then screwed with three months to go." To hell with that, I'm glad they forced me to use my own money for an annuity. Again, if you did it Scott, shame on you. If you didn't do it, then shame on the jury and the legal system in general. Either way, it is the most comprehensive coverage of a murder trial that I have ever read in print. Mucho kudos to all involved. Especially you Howard, for making it happen.
Scott wasn't the prime suspect in this case. He wasn't even a runner up in a group of suspects. He was the only suspect. There wasn't any evidence for anyone else. and as for Scott trying to blame his own son? his son has size 14 shoes, Scott has size 10. his defense lied about the entire circumstances of the case. Scott never did business on a Monday, the day before the auction. His defense lied about him even going there that Monday. I remember the day it happened. February 16th of last year was Presidents day. ADESA is closed on holidays. Why would he be going to a closed auction property to do non-existant car deals? The jury did the right thing. A man who blames his son for murder and then blatantly smuggles contraband into the jail system directly after his verdict deserves to be separated from mainstream society.. Thank you Lawrence Friedman.
Damn Aric, I didn't mean to piss you off but I can't imagine a dad blaming his son for murder to save his own ass. I can see a dad taking a rap for a murder he didn't commit though, if he thought it would save his son. I hope you are right and the system hasn't failed us again, either way it sucks. I hope Scott is innocent, I'm sure you are convinced he is not. I'm also sure I'll see it dramatized on Cable TV eventually though. I wonder who'll play Howard, Robert Redford is way too old, and I'm not available, althoughI would love to do it if my schedule would permit. Ban me Howard, it's your duty.
An "only suspect" often means lazy cops and a DA who just wants to close a case. There is too much of that in America already. If I killed someone, I would want the "only suspect" to be anyone other than me. I'm just saying, man it could happen to anyone of us and if we are convicted, let's just hope we are guilty.
well, its just that I know Scott better than anybody else that has commented. I also know joe well, and 2 of his sons are good friends of mine. Ive known Scott and Josh for over 20 years. i know the kind of people they are. what he did has affected both families and my life as well. but yea, i could see him on trutv... or Lifetime.
I think it's important to note: Scott didn't "blame" Josh.
He testified that as he walked on North Lake Road the thought came to him, "what if my son is involved?" (or words to that effect).
At no point did Scott or Paul Cambria say "I/we think Josh did it" -- only that in response to the allegedly dying words of Joe, "the boy the boy."
For those who think Scott unfairly brought his son into this, this nuanced difference doesn't let Scott off the hook. I'm just saying as a matter of accuracy, neither Scott Doll nor Cambria tried to DIRECTLY point the finger at Josh.
look at the forensic pictures. The jurors did. there is no way that Joe would have been conscious to vocalize anything after that beating. Scott completely fabricated the statement that he said Joe made, because he attempted to evade prosecution. Nobody was there to witness the statement "the boy, the boy" and Scott knew that. it was just another falsified statement the defense used in order to instill a "reasonable" doubt in an otherwise unbiased jury. and to answer your question Mr. Owens, i was Scott's Stepson until about 3 years ago. because of this mess, I don't even want to return to New York. its an embarrassment. luckily, i can comment on it from a thousand miles away.
in other words, he did "blame" josh, because he knew that if he was found innocent, and josh was tried, there would not have been a shred of evidence for a conviction. That was his plan.
and i enjoyed the Batavians coverage of this. even more so than the big 3 news channels in the area, as they sourced most of their info through you guys. i have been reading the batavian every day, half a country away biting my nails for the next update on the story.
I didn't vote on this poll because I didn't hear the testimonies. I just want to say to Aric, you have nothing to be embarrassed about. You did nothing. Thank you for your insite in this case.
hello Eric. Did'nt you call Audra at 7:am the morning of murder, and tell her that Scott was High on drugs, and drunk, and killed Joe with a crow bar. How would you have known this? Cops never Checked that out did they? Who Told THAT. Just curios. Maybe you tell people what a model citizen that you are. Or maybe I will.
I Called the the sherifs department about this, and talked to a sgt. He told me that it was just hearsay.I can name him but I Don't want a target on my back.
No Tony. i didn't call her and say he was high and drunk. I just said that he murdered joe. A friend called me at about 2am telling me that Scott killed Joe, before Scott's family even knew what he had done. It doesn't matter anymore. Scott was convicted as a murderer by a jury of his own peers. I don't know why you called the Sheriff's department and asked that question. where are you getting your backwards information? the Doll family? and i know 2 of Joe's sons. i had to find out what Scott did before the Doll family even knew because he lied to them. If he would have manned up and plead guilty, he would have spared his family of being humiliated by the media, and it would have also saved them at least half a million of their money. so you think his own son did it when there is no evidence pointing to him? whats your Half baked "theory" on what happened? i bet you don't have one, or its as far fetched as Scott's account of the events. How does blood splatter get on several cars, including Audrey's van from "expiration" of blood from breathing? Your in serious denial man. i feel sorry for you. even his forensic witness was a joke who was pulled apart by the prosecution. That was the dumbest defense ive ever heard.
