After his client entered a not guilty plea to an aggravated harassment charge, attorney Dan Killelea read the letter for the first time that Dawn Doll allegedly wrote a Sheriff's Office employee and shook his head.
After court, Killelea said, "I can't see a single threat in the entire letter."
He said he will need to research the case further before deciding on a defense, but he indicted he isn't sure there was even a crime committed when Doll, sister of convicted murderer Scott F. Doll, allegedly mailed the letter in a Father's Day card to one of the officers involved in the murder investigation.
The Sheriff's Office employee wrote in an affidavit that he felt threatened by the letter.
"The content of the letter was disturbing to me," he wrote. "The fact that a Father's Day card was sent along with the letter and receiving the envelop on Father's Day was very threatening to me and my family members."
Scott Doll was convicted by a jury last month of killing Joseph Benaquist outside Benaquist's Pembroke home.
Dawn Doll appeared in City Court at 1 p.m. accompanied by friends and family to answer to the Class A misdemeanor charge.
In a statement Doll reportedly made to a State trooper at the time of her arrest Saturday, Doll said she had come to understand writing the letter was the wrong thing to do.
"I should never have done it," Doll reportedly said. "If I could take it back, I would."
Judge Michael DelPlato issued an order barring Doll from having contact of any kind through any means with the Sheriff's Office member she allegedly wrote the letter to.
Killelea assisted Paul Cambria in the defense of Scott Doll.
Scott has already been
Scott has already been convicted, so I hope he really is guilty. Dawn has a legitimate beef and the USA Constitution gives her the right to air her grievance verbally or in print. Don't you people think she is dealing with intense personal emotions right now? How would you react, how would you feel? I think this charge is shameful when considering the circumstances; that no one considers anymore. Why can't people focus on the good stuff? There is lots of good stuff in the world and in and around Batavia, but no one wants to hear it. Why be hateful when loving is at least ten times better?
- An unpaid political announcement by a frickin' retard, who is proud to be a frickin' retard with a soul and a heart. Can y'all say the same? I truly hope so, and if not, so what? I still love you, doesn't that suck? Too bad.
Sounds like a little, crybaby
Sounds like a little, crybaby Sheriff's deputy with a guilty conscience....in my opinion...
Does anyone know what the
Does anyone know what the letter said?
hahahahahahahaha. This is
hahahahahahahaha. This is what happens when you get an entire family of uneducated people with a bunch of money that thinks they can do whatever they want with no consequences. Dawn is angry, just because her brother is a murderer? are you kidding me?! so she did something very immature when she is over 50 years old. their mother is pushing 90 and on her way out anyways. if there is any more stress put on her, its because her son is a lying murderer who cost that family hundreds of thousands of dollars and the rest of his siblings are incompetent arrogant people and they all played a part in ruining her life and reputation. There is nothing in the US constitution stating that you can threaten someone. the right to free speech does not apply to that. Richardson sounds like he thinks Scott is innocent when every piece of evidence points to Scott. every one of his comments pertaining to Scott's case has been beyond ignorant. People like him acquitted OJ the first time. lol
Aric, I don't know you but I
Aric, I don't know you but I have read your posts. Let me tell you something, i have known Scott for a little over a year and he is a kind and compassionate man who would help anyone. Do i feel he did this, NO and I believe in my heart that the truth will come out in the end. I am not sure what the jurors convicted him on but the evidence did NOT point to him, I believe he was in shock and that can happen to any one of us. If put in the same situation none of us can truely say how we would act until that time comes. As far as your previous post, I think you are a cold individual stating Scott's mother who is in her 80's in on her way out, as you so nicely put it. I think you for some reason have some pent up anger towards this family and need to seek help to move past what ever caused this anger. No one in life is perfect, we all have our faults.
Aric, WHATS WITH THE
Aric, WHATS WITH THE ARROGANCE, are you above reproach?
do you get your jollies from other peoples pain? Did it even cross your mind that there is a chance Scott could be innocent and protecting someone else? Let me give you some advice, sometimes things are not always what they appear to be at first glance,I'm not second guessing the jury's verdict, and may God bless each and every one of them. My message is this, A prosecutor signed on a court petition some facts, which he scrambled up real good to make someone else look bad, if I had not gotten ahold of the original report, it would have stood and made nothing into something, just a little something to maybe humble you a bit.Bottom line, we are all human, and mistakes are after all human nature. You must be either immature,or a person with an axe to grind, but to laugh at this families pain, to me would be the same as laughing at the victims family, grow up, and grow a heart.
Hey Debbie. So you knew Scott
Hey Debbie. So you knew Scott for a little over a year? I know how kind and compassionate he is. I remember all the times he beat my mom. I have seen the times hes cheated people out of money and lied about his lot checks. Ive known him for over 20 years and had to live with him until i was old enough to move out of his house and escape his cynical abusive behavior. My mother worked up the courage to leave him a few years ago, despite the fear she had of him. I remember when his 2 sons would have $100 shoes for school and he'd get me a pair of $10 shoes from the prison commissary when he used to work for Wyoming correctional. I remember when he used to pull wiring off spark plugs at Adesa to get cheap bids on cars.I've seen the thousands of dollars in stolen state property he took from the prison. and as for his mother, she once tried to bribe me $2000 not to go on a family vacation with them because of their racist mentality. My little sister is Scott's daughter. I also knew Joe. 2 of his sons are my friends. and as for you Frank, you have no clue what kind of monster Scott truly is. and i said before, that i am friends with the victims family. so before you comment on something you know nothing about, look at my last name. and how i had to deal with emotions from both sides of the fence. so it is i who will forgive your arrogance, and make you a little more humble. think before you type. He did it. and he was convicted. thank god.
Aric, I still see no reason
Aric, I still see no reason to laugh, I also don't need forgiveness from you, my higher power did so long ago, thanks anyway. As I thought, you definately have an axe to grind.I don't recall saying Scott was either innocent, nor guilty, I am just an abstract thinker, and have seen irregularities in the legal system. Your lead into your post was "hahahahahahah".I personally don't think it's a good time to kick someones entire family. If you do, that stinks of arrogance, again, that would be MY opinion.
Aric, I feel sorry for you
Aric, I feel sorry for you and hope someday you get the help you obviously need.
Aric, I can indeed see why
Aric, I can indeed see why you are happy to see Scott in this predicament. If he beat your mom, and was deceitful in dealing with people, and treated you poorly in comparison to his other children, I can certainly understand your disdain for him. Karma is indeed a bitch, and sounds like it caught up to him.
Not for nothing Debbie, but I'll take Aric's 20 year character assessment over your 12 month or so relationship. Not that my opinion means anything.
There are two sides to every
There are two sides to every story Bud, speak with the rest of the family before you feel so sorry for Aric. I don't believe a word he says reguarding this, he is stretching a lot of some facts and making up others.
Debbie- while there may be a
Debbie- while there may be a small chance that this verdict was wrong, he was found guilty. Let's see what happens on appeal. My guess is verdict stands, and this guy is locked up for a long time. Again, my opinion means nothing.
Thank you for your support
Thank you for your support Mr. Prevost. and the truth cannot be stretched. You know nothing about Scott Debbie. The jurors did their job. he is guilty. By a jury of his unbiased peers. i am not asking for any form of sorrow from anybody. i just want the truth to be known. Not the opinion of his family and friends. the only reason his attorney tried to pin the murder on his own son, is because Scott would have been acquitted and there wouldn't have been any evidence to convict Josh. I am currently going to school to finish my degree in Business Administration and Tribal Law, i live over a thousand miles away. what am i making up Debbie? of course his family is going to say otherwise, because they are extremely biased toward his side. I knew what he did before it was released to the general public. i called him my father since i was six years old. and i am seeking therapy for what he did. not only the murder of my friends father, but the adverse effects he had on my life. but once his verdict was determined, I had a renewed perspective on the US legal system, and i was glad to know that money doesn't buy freedom. it still astounds me that he was able to walk free on bail after killing another human being for 15 months. a bail should never have been set. so what have i said truthfully that was stretched? I'd love to know.
