Suzanne Corona accused of shoplifting from Batavia florist

By Howard B. Owens

UPDATED 1:31 p.m.

Suzanne Corona, 42, was back in police custody today after allegedly trying to steal a flower arrangement from Batavia Stage Coach Florist & Gifts in the Genesee Country Mall.

Corona is charged with petit larceny.

During her arraignment in Batavia City Court this afternoon, Judge Robert Balbick said Corona is accused of stealing a table-top floral arrangement with a light in it valued at $20.

Corona has been given time to meet with a public defender before entering a plea. She is scheduled to reappear in city court on Wednesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Corona was released under supervision of Genesee Justice.

Outside of the courthouse, Corona said, "What can I say? My life is a mess and I overreact in the wrong direction."

The Batavia resident made international news last summer when she was charged with public lewdness and and adultery for engaging in sexual activity with 29-year-old former Oakfield resident Justin Amend in Farrall Park.

Corona eventually entered a guilty plea to public lewdness and was placed on probation.

Today, Corona entered the florist shop, according to owner Loretta Delpriore, and had a couple of items in her hand when Delpriore went into a back room for a phone call. When she came out, Corona was gone and so were the flower arrangements, the owner said.

Delpriore called police, identifying Corona by name as the suspect.

"I know who she is," Delpriore said. "I think everybody knows who she is."

Meanwhile, Amend, who admitted to public lewdness, is currently wanted on a bench warrant after reportedly moving to Florida before his sentencing.

I agree ... can we quit with the games and throw the book at her? It's like punishing a child ... take the punishment away before it does any good and guess what ... they screw up again!

It almost seems like she thinks that she is some kind of a celebrity and can get away with these things.
Lock her up, once and for all.

Can we now say "I told you so!" to all the bleeding hearts who thought she should not have been punished last time! I personally thought Kenny Mistler was right and was sorry that he was made to feel wrong in his decision to make her face some consequences for her actions. You can only help a person that wants to be helped and it is obvious that she feels she is above the law. Great role model for the kiddies...

Don't be blaming Ken Mistler for this. At the time he did the right thing. It had nothing to do with this person' s punishment. It was about the media circus that was going to ensue to make Batavia look like Retardville. Mr. Mistler backed off for Batavia's reputation. Everything this person does is on her and nobody else.

Petit larceny is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail. It is time to hold her (not quite as cute as she thinks it is) butt accountable.

She has been "let off the hook" repeatedly - by the courts, by the community, and by her husband. This needs to end. Now.

Lets face it Dave both parties who had the power to put this habitual criminal away from the first 2 arrests dropped the ball in a big way. Things would be very different now if she was made to pay for her first 2 crimes. Should she go free again?

*****Outside of the court house, Corona said, "What can I say? My life is a mess and I overreact in the wrong direction."*****

Yes, Suzanne, most people "overreact" by stealing things. At least tell a lie that makes sense.

Tim, we don't know that, we can only guess. As for should she go free? That's up to to the court and Mrs. Delpriore. Personally I could care less one way or the other. I just don't think Ken Mistler should get dumped on.

This latest escapade surely must violate the conditions of her probation?

So now she will be run through the court system again with the media just waiting to give more press (WHAM already running the story) and the end result will be the same.Another slap on the hand with an added you are a bad girl, don't let me see you here again!

Come on, she is a habitual criminal and needs to be put away some place where she can not only pay for her life style but at the same time get psychological treatment.Just seems she has been crying out for help?

I'm not judging her the above is just my thought.
Also think Ken Mistler shouldn't get dumped on,blame the system.

If this accusation is true, then it is obvious that the only benefit she sees in her actions is the publicity she receives.
Mistler was right. Giving her additional publicity would only feed into this need.

Posted on this site the last time that she deserved no breaks and got slammed pretty good. "She just needs help" was all i heard. "Putting her in jail will do no good", was the outcry. My , how times have changed.

without a doubt her actions need to be dealt with and she obviously is looking for the attention in everything. Something needs to be done with this woman because now that we are all bored with her petty antics. If she continues on this path for her need to get publicity either negative or positive. How long are these antics going to keep up and how far is she going to go. Stop this woman now before she goes too far and does some real damage.

It's kind of a stretch I know, this is why what happened in Arizona doesn't surprise me a bit. The kid there was in trouble time and time again. Nobody paid any attention, didn't want to deal with him. Well, they KNOW who he is now. No telling what this woman will do to get noticed. DEAL WITH HER NOW!!! Get her the help she needs.

I agree that she shouldn't get away scott-free, but before suggesting jail or prison time, remember it is VERY COSTLY to keep a person locked up. I think a psych evaluation should be the first step.

Why a food buffet and flowers? This lady has problems! Also, when you are put on probation (which she is) you have to do a mental health evaluation. So She already had one done.

Let me be very clear...I was in no way bashing Kenny Mistler. I have known Kenny for many years since he first moved to Batavia and also worked with him. I have the utmost respect for him as a friend and businessman. Please reread my post again.

@ Scott, wait where does the pre surgery transgendered husband and complete humiliation of children come in? To heck with jail, send her on a permanent vacation to H H Richardson in Buffalo!

Holy Cow this is just getting boring... She is gonna have to step it up a notch next time she gets in trouble. In order to top herself she may have to get caught having sex in a Chucky Cheese while trashing the pizza buffet and stuffing game tokens in her purse.
