Call me a traditionalist, even a sentimentalist, if you will, but I'm really surprised that about half the people responding to this poll say "artificial."
I love a real pine tree.
However, we're not getting a tree this year for fear that our year-old Rottweiler will destroy our cherished ornaments (family heirlooms, so to speak). Hopefully, by next year, he'll be less rambunctious.
Yesterday, he ate the entire fruit cake my Father made and mailed to us. I'm not much for fruit cake, but my wife loves it and my Father's is the best, so she's very disappointed.

I think people prefer a real tree but detest the needle shed/watering/weight/yearly cost
so they like artificial
