Today's Poll: Should Oak street have fewer lanes?

Let me remind everyone that there is a public information session about this topic tonight 6PM at City Hall. NYSDOT will be sending both Dan Schwind and a traffic engineer who will be able to answer questions on the proposed changes.

A poll at the end of the meeting, after we had the information would have helped more. I haven’t even made up my mind about this one yet.

Charlie, if you want to suggest a follow up poll question for tomorrow ... write a suggested question and answers and we can post it.

Who can answer this...after the great amount of snow we had today,Is oak street plowed by the state since they seem to be claiming that its there highway and they can do what they want to it..make it three lane..and does that mean the state plows main st..its a state road.any of the state road that go thru batavia for that matter.do we plow them, does the city get paid by the state to plow them.Since we pay county taxes do they plow any of the street for us..i hope someone could answer that...I was coming home on Rt 33 today from Rochester was be hind a state plow who was plowing all the way until he got to Batavia and then raise his plow and stopped plowing..

Mark, the city receives $174,000 to plow the state roads in the city. Oak Street is a state road. The state pays for repairs and maintenance and does as they wish with the road.

Hopefully, the meeting the other night changed their minds and we can keep at least some parking on Oak. It does seem that the state cares more for people who drive on the road than live on it.
