Osama bin Laden is Dead

Osama bin Laden, responsible for the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States, is dead.

In an operation inside of Pakistan, U.S. forces killed bin Laden during a firefight at a mansion. U.S forces are in possession of the body, The New York Times reports.

Amazing spontaneous gathering outside the White House.

Maybe we can all find just a little bit of unity at a time when we have seen so much divisiveness. I know I felt tremendous pride when President Bush made his bullhorn speech at ground zero almost 10 years ago. I feel the same tonight.

What a way to start off a dreary Monday morning....

I give pause to my feelings of patriotism and joy as it's not a christian thing to celebrate the death of someone, but God knows our hearts, and what I witnessed in NYC 10 yrs ago left something in me that I feel has now lifted. I am not naieve enough to think this is the end of our fight but I do feel it's on it's downslope.

It kinda makes sense now why Obama has not closed Guantanamo, as there were allusions that info from our detainee's helped. I think we may see some hopeful changes coming on this situation now, changes that while hard will make all sides happier.

Daniel.... thanks for the videos, while the Believe video was rough to watch because of personal memories, I have to say that Courtesy of The Red White and Blue made up for it. I have a few tears of joy this am.

Time to put this behind and begin to push our energies to the future.....

God Bless Us and may he guide us back onto our just path.

Best news in a long time. Might not be politically correct, but glad he did not get taken prisoner.

All this time, Pakistan had him near the capital city, close to a Police Academy. And they are our friend? Time to cut them off, 100%.

Ian Murphy, this is why we love the troops, instead of your "F" them. The troops just evened it up for American.

It is a reason to celebrate, but I want proof that he is dead! It's been 10 years that the U.S. has hunted him down and then after we kill him we just dump his bis body at sea? That makes no since to me! Maybe there was a reason, bit it sounds suspicious to me!

Why is someone wanting proof so wrong? Its not like the government has ever lied to it citizens before. Bin Laden has been trotted out many times in the past as a convenient distraction. How many times did we hear, "A new audio tape from Bin Laden has been released", just before an election? If he was so safe all this time you think he would have released a video tape a time or two.

Did they dump all the bodies at once or just him? Did they save part of his beard and some fingernail clippings? The video from inside his "mansion" looks more like a crack house, to me. I won't miss him but I have trouble celebrating murder, even the murder of a murderer, just call me a bleeding heart liberal. I don't believe in an eye for an eye and revenge is always counter productive.

I agree with George, I am not celebrating the death of Osama Bin Laden, but cannot help but feel a sense of calm and relief. It turned me off when I saw the celebrators, reminded me of the terrorists reactions when they kill Americans. A sigh of relief and moving on about our business is the better reaction.

I have to agree about the celebrations. I don’t think there is any reason to cheer the death of anyone. Relief is a much better feeling.

The first thing I thought of is our troops on the front lines being the brunt of some nut job terrorist who just watched that footage in his cave.

I think the celebrations are important because they communicate to the world that it's not just the American government that wanted Bin Laden dead, but the American people, too.

I choose to have faith in our government and military and believe that they got the right guy....if we paraded his dead body down the streets we would be no better than the animals we are fighting against.
