Some time over night somebody placed a red, white and blue handmade sign in front of the Upton Monument that read "Osama Got Obama'd."
By 9 a.m., the sign was gone.
County Manager Jay Gsell told Dan Fischer at WBTA that county workers removed the sign because the Upton Monument was not the appropriate location to place it.

Why inappropriate? Is Emory
Why inappropriate? Is Emory Upton not a general?
thats the goverment for you ,
thats the goverment for you , running our lives again , what about freedom of speech? is this guy non AMERICAN i think so. the news channels are called i think he better have a good reason to remove a sign of justice to the AMERICAN PEOPLE.there will be some seriously pissed of vetrans and current armed service people, this guy is not an AMERICAN
Whoever made that sign should
Whoever made that sign should donate it to the Smithsonian.
can i post a sign when Obama
can i post a sign when Obama gets voted out? how about a march down main st burning HUD and EBT vouchers?
Only thing wrong with the
Only thing wrong with the sign is it should read "Osama got USA'D" Obama did nothing more then any other President would have done in the same position, sign a piece of paper allowing our troops to continue what they were already doing! God Bless our Military, today they honored those that have lost their lives to terrorism or fighting it!
I think Obama deserves some
I think Obama deserves some credit.
Our intelligence was far from 100 percent certain that Bin Laden was in the compound.
There are a thousand things that could have gone wrong.
And you know who would have got blamed.
I'm sure the thought of Jimmy Carter must have passed through his mind.
It took some backbone to give the order.
Also, "Osama got USA'D" has no alliteration.
Kudos to whoever made the
Kudos to whoever made the sign and put it there! Sad that the "local authorities" felt it was "inappropriate".
What a bunch of tight asses!!
God forbid that President Obama get any credit for doing something right!!
Just so everyone is aware,
Just so everyone is aware, the creators and "owners" of that brilliant sign are going to be interviewed by Channel 8 at 4 today in front of the Post Office. These kids are cool.
I agree with Shannon, if
I agree with Shannon, if Osama is indeed dead, then credit goes to the U.S. military for getting the job done, I thank President Obama for giving orders, that did take guts, however the SEALS that carried out the mission are the real heros.
My psots earlier today said I was susipcious about the news, as the day goes on and I read more news, I am becoming less so, however I still don't understand the big rush to dump his body at sea.
lol ... common sense, clear
lol ... common sense, clear thinking, and backbone at its finest! The article doesn't say - was the sign moved to an "appropriate' place, or just confiscated?
Maybe Ken Mistler could have
Maybe Ken Mistler could have the person who made the sign make a back one and stand on Main Street for a Free buffet.
Debra - Can you tell them to
Debra - Can you tell them to get in contact with me if you know how to get ahold of them? If they can make more I would like to purchase one of those. My email address is djones14020@gmail.com.
I didn't get a chance to see
I didn't get a chance to see the sign, but will definitely try to be at the P.O. at 4. I think the young men who made the sign are brilliant! The fact that they used Obama is that he is the Commander in Chief of ALL the US military meaning the credit goes to ALL the US military as well. And besides the 'Franikin' sign was only so big and they probably wanted to keep the message short and sweet! Would everyone stop over thinking EVERYTHING already, and appreciate the point? Jeez!
If the kids don't want to
If the kids don't want to make anymore signs (they could make a couple bucks if they did.) There is always Batavia Sign Co. Just sayin'
Great sign! Howard's right.
Great sign!
Howard's right. Obama would've been blamed if the mission had failed at all. The truth is that it was a success at every level for all our guys; from the bottom to the top. But to not give the President ANY real credit today can be summed up in one phrase, "Haters gotta hate!".
We wouldnt even have known
We wouldnt even have known the mission failed. It was a deep cover CIA operation that never would have seen the light of day if failed
I hope this is really true
I hope this is really true and it was Osama that is gone..Of course it will never bring back the thousands that have lost their lives because of him and we really need to take caution because there are more people like him out there. But I certainly am proud of our armed forces and even more proud to be an American USA! USA! USA!
hooray. first the birth
hooray. first the birth certificate and now 10 years after 9/11 one of the most hated men in history is dead. big week for the president. good job. 10 bucks says a new bin laden video timestamped after may 1st 2011 will hit the air in the very near future. remember when he was dead before from an illness? thank goodness they showed their respect to his religion and dumped his body at sea right away. thats a pretty good story to make people believe even more stories of dna confirming it was him. kinda sad that our "great" country has discredited itself so much that you actually do have to question things like this. if hes dead, good. i hope he spends eternity trying to get all 40 of those virgins waiting for him to give up their v-cards. thats torture at its finest. if he isnt dead obama better hope it doesnt see the light of day. not trying to rain on everyones parade but can you really trust anything our "leaders" tell us?
i cant stand the fact that
i cant stand the fact that Barack Hussein Obama recieved any credit at all. he had nothing to do with this other then signing a piece of paper. howard our intel was 100 percent on the fact that he was there or we would not of gone in. we knew he was there months ago but at that time it wasnt 100 percent sure. only when we were 100 percent was the choice made to strike. everybody is so quick to jump on the obama band wagon because of this. gave all the credit to the seals that went in not the man sitting comfortably and "safe" behind a desk. Osama didnt get obama'd, Osama got SEAL'D
Every single person who is
Every single person who is saying Obama doesn't deserve credit would be among the first to call for his impeachment if the mission had failed.
It's simply wrong to hold somebody accountable when they fail, but not give them credit when they succeed.
Regular readers know I'm no fan of Obama, and nor am I a big fan of the GOP. My position is completely non-partisan.
I stand by what I wrote before.
To give Obama credit for making the decision to go in is not only the right and ethical thing to do, it in no way diminishes the accomplishment of the military and the individual combatants.
When there is a major military victory, the president DESERVES credit, regardless of who sits in the oval office, as surely as he deserves blame when it goes wrong.
I don't see how a patriot can see it any other way.
Jason, you might want to take
Jason, you might want to take some time and read the accounts of what actually happened. Obama, his advisors, and the US military took a very large gamble on Friday. They didn't know whether bin Laden was there or not. They acted on the best educated guess they could make, and everyone involved deserves credit. If the mission had failed, everyone involved would deserve the blame.
Let's be clear on this: OBAMA
Let's be clear on this: OBAMA did NOT kill Bin Laden. An American soldier, who Obama just a few weeks ago was debating on whether or not to PAY, did. Obama just happened to be the one in office when our soldiers finally found OBL and took him out. This is NOT an Obama victory, but an AMERICAN victory!!
