I actually live near one of these trees and I always thought it was the ugliest tree ever...even more when the string bean pod like things come out on it.
My Brother in law and sister have two of these in their front yard in Byron ,and I am sure they would be happy to give them to you. They are pretty and aromatic when they bloom in late spring, but what a mess after that. Those pods drop off as well as the large leaves, and are a full time job in the fall.

Most interesting factoid, the Catalpa is the sole source of food for the catalpa sphinx moth, and the caterpillar is a prized bait for anglers.
