A caller to dispatch has reported a "suspicious condition" in Le Roy -- two people taking random pictures of the village.
The caller said the two people have been in the village since at least 11 a.m. taking pictures all over the village of things such as buildings and street signs.
Apparently, the caller spoke with the two people and they said they were reporters from France.
That seems to be the straw that broke the camel's back and prompted the call.
A Le Roy police officer confirmed seeing people take pictures of a statue in the village and wanted to know if the photographers had been seen on private property.
No report of trespassing.
The officer will attempt to make contact, but didn't sound confident of finding criminal activity.
UPDATE 7 p.m.: The officer made contact. The photographers are from Pennsylvania and are taking pictures to post to Facebook. "Nothing suspicious," the officer reports.
Truly pathetic that our
Truly pathetic that our country has come to this point... This is the way things worked in Nazi Germany and throughout the Soviet Union. "If you see something, say something".
Benjamin Franklin said something along the lines of: "Those who would give up liberty to obtain security deserve neither." I'll finish that thought with: "...and they shall have neither."
The Republic is nearly finished crumbling, and no-one seems to care.
Really! You can't even take
Really! You can't even take pictures now and someone gets all riled up. Funny no one had problems when the media was all over town in people's faces, interrupting businesses, and taking all kinds of parking spaces on main street.
There are no laws against
There are no laws against taking photos in public places including neighborhoods and homes. If they were taking photos of federal buildings such as courthouses and FBI building in Buffalo, you are treading on grounds where you shouldn't. I have battled with countless security guards and Buffalo PD doing photography in that city. There are websites out there that simply discuss cities and all over the world people want to see towns and communities. Most people have no clue what is legal to photograph or not.
A police officer cannot take your camera, film, or memory card unless there is good reason ( including evidence of a murder, or something that would reduce the security of one of those federal facilities.)
I could take a photo of your house, but not a photo inside your window with you in there. Never would do that, just weird and in bad taste but its legal. This makes me want to walk around LeRoy and bring my camera with me. Maybe when the leaves are coming out on the trees. :)
