the town of batavia has it goin on theyve brought in businesses....but if it does go thru will we be paying just one tax instead of two , the county and city tax? county residents just pay one property tax for which ever area they live ....city of batavia residents have to pay county and city....and will there be a mayor ...i would love to see a mayor

Most people pay at least two taxes. They pay Village and/or Town taxes and County taxes. Of course, in the city, we pay two. The Town of Batavia is the exception to the rule and pay no Town tax. They do pay seperate fees for fire, trash and some pay a sewer district tax.
I wouldn't overlook sales tax... If the consolidation plan eliminated positions equivalent to city executive, I could see a ceremonial office of mayor established.
