Excellent.

An unlicensed driver and his unsafe vehicle were removed from our roads.

Anyone care to try to explain again how driver licensing plus vehicle registration and safety laws (inspection) are a bad thing?

I could use a good laugh.

Well, Bob. He was pulled over for having a light out. Could happen to anyone, anytime. Has no bearing on the vehicle inspection, registration and licensing laws. That's a vehicle law for operating on the highways and I support those, because they actually do contribute to safety, unlike registration and inspections. We have no idea why he didn't have a license, so you can't say the roads are any safer.
If you want to laugh about having to fork out copious amounts of your money for stupid laws and aggressive law enforcement like road blocks etc, which do not make anyone safer, go ahead. I'm not.

He was more than your run of the mill unlicensed operator, I heard this entire thing go down on the scanner last night, he had several active driver license suspensions, thus is why he was charged with 'Aggravated unlicensed operation' why there was no bail.

Indeed. You don't get jailed for "aggravated unlicensed operation" because your license was suspended for failing to pay a parking ticket. You got jailed because you're an irresponsible road hazard.

And claiming to support safety violations on the road while also claiming inspections have nothing to so with said road safety is contradictory. You either support vehicle safety, or you do not.

As someone who drives 25K+ miles annually, not all do I mind my money being spent on making roads safer.

Let's see, inspections aren't keeping unsafe vehicles off the road, but inspections make the roads safer?

That's like saying outlawing marijuana will keep people from smoking marijuana.

Or banning assault weapons will keep criminals from obtaining assault weapons.

People always love them some big government when it suits their pet POV.

"Also some states have dropped the mandatory inspections and accidents caused by unsafe equipment have not increased at all."

Bob, Spend your money any way you like, but if you think inspections make a significant difference in highway safety, you're wasting your
money. Responsible drivers want their vehicles in good order, and don't need NY State to insure vehicle safety through inspections.

Not contradictory. I support safety for everyone, not useless government bureaucracies that provide only a false sense of security. Like Frank says, spend your money anyway you like, just leave mine alone. NYS already has designs on that anyways.
