Chris when I was at batavia high the same thing happened but the bike was destroyed not stolen. Two kids bashed it against the pavillion wall behind the school. Many of us witnessed it and both the school and the police refused to do anything. The school said because it happened "off property" and the police said it was a "school matter." I thought the school may have been prevented from punishing anyone. But the police? I never understood that one

I do not totally agree. Growing up in Rochester, I had one of my Bikes stolen. It never became an article in the paper. Why so much fuss over this one?? (maybe because they have a picture)Some one knows who this is. The police should just do what police do and solve the crime. The missing bikes are somewhere and will turn up... Why they didn't do the same thing at the high school is beyond my understanding, unless the cameras were not working, or they knew who it was without the pictures.

Yeah Fred but if they knew who it was without pictures why would they then not do anything. It seems when we have certain incidents and major incidents the Batavia Police Dept is on the ball. However when it comes to neighborhood issues or nusiance issues they play pass the buck or just dont care. This is one of the reasons why people wonder why we have a local PD as it doesnt really apply itself to neighborhood policing unless there is profit in it (ie tickets and citations) Could be why the city wants to do what it is thinking about w landlords.

I heard that 5 bicycles were stolen-not the older ones, just the newer ones. Maybe police are investigating because a resident called them????? I've noticed lately that more "younger" people are hanging around there that don't belong. I don't know why they stopped closing the gates, especially the one in back.

Hm-m-m. Police called to 400 Towers for stolen bikes? Guess you should probably fine the Towers' management $50. That'll teach 'em for someone committing a crime on 'their' property.
Hey, this a pretty good money scam.
