Scott Doll picks up 47 votes in Corfu election

By Howard B. Owens

CORFU, N.Y. -- Todd Skeet won an easy re-election as mayor of Corfu tonight, but the vote count that will probably get the most attention is the 47 ballots cast for Scott Doll.

Doll is the GOP candidate accused of murder. The unusual Corfu election has received a little national news coverage.

Skeet received 109 votes.

In the trustee vote, Ralph Peterson received 138 votes and Al Graham tallied 97. Ken Laur received 56 votes.

Lorie Longhany, chair of Genesee County Democratic Committee, said: "Todd, Al and Rosey Peterson exemplify a common sense approach to local public service.  They work tirelessly for the betterment of the village of Corfu and that is what local government is about.  I congratulate them on their re-election. The Democratic Committee is proud to have endorsed Todd Skeet and Al Graham."

I cannot believe so many people voted for this guy. Yes, him and his family are well known to the community, its a sad story, but that doesn't justify the fact that a man was found dead and this guy was found walking back towards the crime scene covered in blood with a lug wrench, and what not. I know everyone is innocent until proven guilty- but either way something is not right here. Even though I do not live in Corfu, I'm glad for everyone that Skeet won!

There are people in Corfu, or so I'm told, who believe there is more to the story and that he might be innocent. Maybe it's wishful thinking, maybe there is more to the story. I don't know. It's interesting that Doll has retained a top defense attorney and is apparently going to vigorously fight the charge. I plan on covering the trial. It should be interesting.

Just a thought - maybe a far-fetched one but you never know - what if a third party actually attacked both of them Mr. Doll was able to get away and Mr. Benaquist wasn't? I assume they are probably going to plead self defense though.

Mr Doll did not receive any injuries...he was married to a family member for 18 years, and was quite violent during that time, beat his wife many times. It does not surprise me that this has happened, given his past history. I just hope his family's money does not buy him out of this one, like everything else in his past!

Gabor,
Since Doll has never claimed he was beat or hurt by the Sheriff’s, why would you even say that. Do you think the Genesee County Sheriffs beat him?
Why would “Republicans” know more about this crime than Democrats?

Mr Doll's mugshot looked like he took some face damage but its hard to conclude if it was inflicted by the police or from anyone else.
pretty much how i said it. totally different then ur question.
Maybe the Republicans know more about this then we do....
Political joke since everone is appauld and this is a mainly political fueled site.
I have not spoken to mr. Doll or The Sherriff's office but i am not claiming that i have done so.
I dont live in Corfu so i am not a voter but i know mr. skeet personally and think the only reason why this is a big deal at all is the crime.
I am a registered democrat but i am bound by no rules other than my beliefs.
I wouldnt put money on it but the guy (mr. doll) mite not be guilty.
