Batavia; the land of wall to wall pizza shops.
I understand that batavia was mentioned on an episode of the Simsons, in this respect, even though I never saw it.

Where's Santinos? We LOVE Main Street. Love the sweet sauce. Pizzaland was great when I was in LeRoy. Haven't had it in years though.

Pontillo's in LeRoy, Pizza Land, LeRoy, Santino's in Oakfield ... and if I knew of any others outside of Batavia, I would have included them, but that's what "other" is for, too.

Kim - I have to agree with you there. Great pizza. Love the sweet sauce. I'm assuming they're still open then? Do they still sell slices? Maybe I'll stop on the way home today and grab a few.

I remember in about 1995 we used to rent the old NAPA store front next to Ralph and Rosies. The smell was intoxicating and he welcomed our new business (second hand store) with a free slice. Needless to say that i had a slice or two for lunch 5 days a week. Very nice people, I wonder if Ralph still collects coin banks. Does anyone know if the Antique shop is still there ? (the old railroad depot on the tracks). I would love to know.

I enjoy Main St Pizza for the thin crust and NY style slice.(plus i got a free T shirt). Not deep dish tho or chicago style. I had to pick Belledesa's coz they have the thick crust made fresh and from years of patronige, the consistency in quality. I have never gotten a deep dish pizza since my last day of employment at PizzaHut Inc. 1992 and counting. I have not had Santino;s or Pizza Land. I have had great pizza from all the other places mentioned. I cant wait for the Best Chicken Wing Poll ! (hint hint)

My apologies. I did not recognize the names; they all sounded like pizzerias in Batavia. As a vegetarian, I rarely eat pizza. I am partial, however, to the white pizza from Pontillos in Churchville... Broccoli, spinach and black olives... but Churchville is in Monroe County. Most often I make my own pizza, because I avoid bovine dairy products- I use goat milk feta.

The antique shop was located in the mill- no railroad depots remain. The freight depot burned down in the early-60s and the passenger terminal was demolished in the mid-60s. A woodworking shop (manufactures custom podiums) moved into the mill, and there was a fire last year that destroyed the building- all but a new addition. Since then the company rebuilt the front portion of the building, a very nice imitation of the original mill. A consignment/EBay business is located next to Ralph & Rosie's. Yes, Ralph & Rosie's is still very much in business and remodelled as well.
There are actually three milling buildings in Bergen: The former Roller Mills is occupied by Lawn Medic. The mill mentioned previously was Miller's. And the lumber mill which also sold coal- the coal silos are used to store grain.

When Batavia was mentioned in The Simpson's, Mr. Burns was looking for some strikebreakers.

His line is, (something like) "They can't break the strike, they are up in Batavia."

That's not exact, but its close. It was not mentioned in the episode the other night when the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant went on strike of dental insurance.

Main St. Pizza wins in our house! We love their regular pizza but their deep dish and grilled white pizzas are outstanding! Matty's NY style and Pizzaland in LeRoy are both tied for a respectable second place.

YUM! I think we're having pizza tonight!

Did they actually say Batavia, NY in the Simpsons? Since the show is set in Springfield, could they have been referring to Batavia IL. ? I don't know, just curious.

It was marges first order for 300 pretzels so i would like to believe it was Batavia NY. I know alot of Aldi's products are supplied from Batavia IL. They never mention the state but i havent checked Hula for episode yet.

Yes Tom, there is no denying video footage. I use my cam regularly, and have caught litterbugs, stalkers, crooks, the neighbors dog barking for hours, ect.
I also have captured memories of my children that are precious. We take our camera fishing, boating, camping, and last year to Disney.{ON THE RIDES}
The camera doesn't lie, and is a great tool. I have 3 on the property in Elba, that also take pics and video day and night,in attempts to catch the theives that have stolen from us.
Love your vids,
Karen

This poorly managed Franchise should be court ordered to install survealiance cameras in the food prep area. I wouldnt be suprised if the Corporate Dominos pulls the franchise liscense. This is not just affecting Domino's but any restaurant right now. Anytime you get prepared food from some where and it taste funny this will pop up in ur head !
