If your idea of a good bargain is a Mid-century Modern fixer-upper, has the State of New York got a deal for you.
The state is making a second attempt -- the first deal fell through -- to auction off its former armory at 235 State St., Batavia.
The minimum bid is $60,000.
Perhaps you need office space, space for your contracting business, or you think it could be apartments or offices or maybe even your home -- all contingent on zoning approvals, of course.
The auction is at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, in Buffalo.
There was an open house today and two more coming up -- from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, and from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5.
looks like it'd make a nice
looks like it'd make a nice police station.
It doesn't cost enough.
It doesn't cost enough.
The armory could be a nice
The armory could be a nice police station but it's too far away from downtown which is where they want the new police station to be so they'll probably not even consider it.
a great location for Terry
a great location for Terry Platt rooming house!!!!
This could make a fantastic
This could make a fantastic hostel for international travelers and really put Batavia on the map as a must check out destination. All major cities have them.
Or, have the city buy it,
Or, have the city buy it, apply to GCEDC, NYSEG and/or National Grid for equipment, building material, power and/or mortgage tax deferments - while citing it as a "tourist destination".
That way, the 'city' can screw everybody in Genesee County, instead of just the city inhabitants.
It's a WIN-WIN.
Well, except for the non-city inhabitants. But, Hey, ya can't keep everybody happy.
George....I believe a Hostel
George....I believe a Hostel falls under the same definition of a rooming house or bed and breakfast. Which the city just decided aren't gonna be allowed anymore so thats not gonna be possible.
